I'm not aware of any NJ pen posse, but I would be interested if it wasn't too far of a drive.

Awesome! Where along the Shore?

Just South of where the infamous TV show was filmed

Alright, Seaside is cool.

A couple of years ago, I picked up 3 of THE best pens in my collection from Shore Antiques in Allenhurst--a mint P51, an awesome Skyliner, and a Parker Vac-with the most soft, flexible nib EVER!

There, the cat's out off the bag now. I just revealed one of my secret spots. Hopefully they haven't caught on to me yet, maybe new, and better deals can still be had.

Actually I have been there. I found an azure blue pearl Parker Vac Sub. Deb. there. I found out about them from an ad in the Asbury Park Press, so I guess the cat was out for awhile.

Wow, your find was quite exceptional. I'd love to find a mint 51 :puddle:

Yeah, if Frankiex has a table, we can use it as a meeting point....then head off to a saloon.

There is (was?) a NJ club that I had attended a meeting of a few years ago. I believe skipwilliams was the organizer at the time, but I haven't heard of any activity since.

That being said, I'd be interested.

Well then, so you're in my neck of the stench...or east of me.

Hi Frank. Has the Philly Pen Club been active at all recently? Just curious. Thanks.

Aww, thanks for sharing one of your secret spots. I'll have to go check it out when I am home for the holidays.

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

No, not as much as it should be...

Used to meet 3-4 times per year, but that has dropped to 1-2. Seems that the Philly Pen Show is what draws attention to the club!

(The site is active, but it is seldom updated)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
