Of the blues etc in this set, the Cornflower is just about top of the list; slightly ahead of Aster. Wonderful colours and you can take this as read, across all your reviews - marvellous as usual!!!!

At the moment, IMO the two inks are running neck and neck -- I like the look of both of them a whole lot color-wise, but this one might win by a nose simply because of the shorter dry times. I'm also rapidly becoming a fan of inks with sheen to them.

Obviously, since I have liked the look of several of these inks (based largely on your reviews) I'm putting this collection on my Christmas wish list. Right at the top. And dropping seriously less than subtle hints to my husband (who will probably just roll his eyes and point out the ink stash I currently have); "But dear, these ones are *different!" (This of course being said to a guy who can't distinguish between blue and teal green, let alone the subtle nuances between different shade of blue.... :headsmack:)

At least he knows how to cook....

Thanks for the review.

Hmm, I'd say Cornflower beats Aster for that extra "ooo-laa-laa" factor---see how the ink has a tinge of something extra at the edges, especially in the bottom two pictures?

I love ink with funky properties like that! It reminds me of my favorite blues, Tsuki-yo and Shin-kai....or perhaps an alternate version of Diamine Tchaikovsky. Nice all around!

It is glorious, I love it. Thank you for your very kind comments as always.

I love it Ruth. Cooking is always good... it is always good to be fed and watered whilst you contemplate the arduous task of inks.

Oh I love Tchaikovsky! This one is a more lustrous shade.

This whole collection is stunning and I love your writing. Thank you so much for sharing.

I'll now have to re-start reconsidering that this might in fact boost the investment and growth of my collection. For me, a perfect Blue!

I'm afraid the latter, but we'll see. If the former, I'll know.

Yes, you have to buy the whole collection

-- and --

No, you can choose any of these Flowers (and/or Musicians) to get a free 5-ml sample for every purchase of > £10.00

So, wait, can I just order a whole box of Aster and Cornflower (if I were addicted to Lapis)?

Not sure if I get the picture but that would mean for 2 30-ml 10-packs of each, you'd have to shell out > £1200.00, no?

Thank you, I am delighted you like the set. I would love to see your doodles with this set of colours!

It is a breath-taking blue, it stands out from the many, many blues I have including Penman Sapphire... and that is something!

Beautiful color Bhavna. Close to the perfect blue I am looking for.

As always, amazing pics of the shading. Thanks for sharing.

I just nominated the Diamine Flowers set of inks for the poll at MassDrop to see if we can team up and get it at a good price. I just love the set, but at US$99 and not all the inks would be used by me, it just seems a little pricey. So if you want, please go over to MassDrop click on VOTE, scroll down to Diamine Fountain Pen Inks, and vote! Thanks!

So many pens, so little time.

Fantastic, thank you for doing that. I have just been looking at their new 150 year anniversary set due out on the 17th of Nov. Looks rather lovely with colours I haven't seen in their collection before. Very exciting AND available individually according to The Writing Desk website (no affiliation, just stalking to get a bottle of 1670 Stormy Grey!). HOW many days to Christmas...?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
