Switching things up today with non-fountain type pens: Jotter ballpoint and Jotter rollerball, both Flighters.

IM rb in matte black with ST, purchased at a Walmart cuz the pen was there, so what better way to encourage the store to carry such nice things than to buy one. (Three, actually.)

And, recently acquired Frontier fp clear demonstrator that is quite deeply enjoyed. Presently has small, simple sepia cartridges in right now, but I'll take a brief stab at making it an eyedropper for a while, too.

Parker Vector filled with J.Herbins' lavender blue, and Parker IM filled with Diamine saddle brown. Just got back into fountain pens after a long while.

Nice pen holder.

I've inked up my newly acquired Parker Classic, Flighter model, with Quink Blue. I like how it feels in the hand. Small, slender, yet substancial heft.

Black Parker Sonnet with fine nib. I'm using it at school.

Hi, my name is Miles and I feel the need to share my confession ...

I have just used a ball pen...

Worse then that I have just used a cheap disposable ball pen.

I don't know how it happened ... I had just stripped my trusty old Parker 45 TX down and dropped all the pieces into a bowl of warm water to clean it all out when the phone rang with a client wanting to book my services. I had to write some details down and I grabbed the first pen that I saw ... which was ... (hangs head in shame) ... yes ... a cheap disposable ball pen. I shall surely have to atone for my sins now and buy a new vintage Parker pen to add to the collection to take away the shame that my actions have brought upon me and my office.

So ... I hope that no-one here will judge me too harshly for my actions ... and I humbly beg your forgiveness for my actions.

Thank you ...

I keep an emergency ball pen on hand that I can live with using, an early model (1946?) Sheaffer Stratowriter in polished brass.

My first Parker 45 made in England. It came with a loooong cartridge instead of a converter. Does anyone know where I can get a converter to fit this pen? Many thanks!

As always, the Black Parker Sonnet with fine nib.

Rob, any of the modern Parker converters will fit you 45 and are readily available on eBay, Amazon etc

Yep. I've recently bought two new current-model Parker conveyers for 1970's Parker 45s.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
