Hope to see some of the people I mail frequently.

I'm looking for a nice visconti too this year. I just don't know which one.

I think I might be interested in a Opera typhoon and/or Wall street. these pens are older editions but I really like them.

I will also have a look at a homo sapiens steel age (large size) if there is one available.

It would be nice to meet each other there. Any recognition's?

I'm hoping to be there and then onto Waterloo for the Belgian Pen Show on Sunday staying overnight with my brother in Nuenen, just got to get the North East Pen Show and the London Writing Equipment Show out of the way first. I'll be wearing my FPN and WES badges.

Would be nice Wim, you've been under the radar a bit lately. Hopefully caught up on sleeping...

Hi D.ick,

Yes, it would be nice indeed. Of course having to build my own miniature version of the Delta Works after another flooding scare at the end of June, having problems with accessing a computer due to malfunctions of the body parts required to do so, and trying to keep FPN running regardless doesn't help :). And as to sleeping: I doubt I will ever catch up <ROFL>.

Warm regards, Wim

I'll probably visit the show too. It will be my first penshow to visit.

I'm wondering... does anyone know if there will be a possibility to have one of my nibs tuned? I'm thinking on having one of my Mediums adjusted into an italic (stub)... But i'm not sure the show is the right place to bring it for that.

Warm regards, *thINK*

As far as I know both Fountainbel en Wimg will be there. Both are quite able to do nibwork, though they not consider themselves full-time nibmeisters.

I am fairly sure Fountainbel (Francis) will not work on site. I am not sure about Wimg. But they can take the pen and send it back to you. I don't know about their backlog, though.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
