Is this where I counter with 2mm?

It's time for all of us to live in harmony. My staff has come up with a suitable solution that should please everyone. What about 8 mm on the front of the page and 5 mm on the back?

In the spirit of compromise, let's split the difference and go with 6.5mm and call it a day.... ;)

Is there a possibility of a using a guide sheet (which might, or might not, be correct terminology), inserted under the page/sheet in use? Each prints his own, ruled to taste, everybody's happy.

I don't bother with them, myself. Blank pages don't really faze me. I like their adaptability. Ink, nib and the size of sheet size determine the orientation (relative to the binding: parallel or perpendicular) and size of the line as needed, if needed.

+1 for guide sheets: I use them for letter-writing (Basildon Bond include one with their writing paper), and the end result looks much better than lined paper.

The line guide provided with Life Airmail pads are perfect. They're horizontal on one side and vertical on the other, so can be used whichever way you orientate your paper.

PaperForFountainPens.com announces:

Special New Year Edition! Now taking orders.

374 pages of delicious Tomoe River paper, choice of white or cream.

A new journal for a new year.

I've had requests for a page count to allow a page for each day of the year, and I wanted to make sure that I could deliver in time before announcing their availability.

Barring extreme disasters (asteroid impacts and such…) I'll be shipping first orders on Dec. 26. Supplies for delivery in time for the New Year are limited, and I'll ship first come (though if inventory will support it I will give precedence to international orders).

My new and higher page count White paper (I had cream) journals arrived. They are excellent quality (as I knew to expect. I also like the white paper as an alternative to the cream version. However since I often write in greens the cream may be my favorite of the two...that is personal preference though. The paper quality is the same!

My New Year's book with cream paper arrived (while I was out of town celebrating New Year's, unfortunately). It did get here before the 1st, which considering I placed the order on Dec. 26 was really impressive. Great customer service. To compensate for my traveling, I have adjusted my resolution for the year from "Journal Entry Every Day" to Journal Entry Every Day After Jan 1."

I just ordered a pad and journal to try out based on all the reviews. I was wondering if we would be seeing any envelopes offered for the pad paper in the near future?

NO WAY will it be on it's own for long. I can see a few more of these fellas living on my shelf, desk, car seat.

They, are, gorgeous.

I just received my order the other day and was initially impressed. After seeing what it did for Noodler's Periwinkle (see this thread) I am very, very impressed. This paper brings out the best in any ink. Now I want must have a journal.

I just picked mine up from the mail depot today! :D

I have 5 Design.Y journals so love Tomoe River but these, for the money, are absolutely first class, they really are.

I thought I would not like plain paper, i always write on lined paper but having just started the first page and wrote some random thoughts, you know what?

The plain paper is almost 'freeing' in a weird sense. Kind of like I'm not tied down to the space between lines, etc. LOL

Now I am gibbering! Anyway, superbly made journals and well worth the money.

My one, ever so minor, mardy is that there is no bookmark at all. This will become a pain later on when I get into the book further.

Suffice to say, MB Irish Green looks superb on the Cream paper. Excellent.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
