Organics Studio: Pendleton's Purpillusion

Please pardon my terribly handwriting and color correction. This color is impossible to scan properly, the swatch at the bottom is fairly accurate but the writing leaves a bit to be desired color-wise.

Subtle, dark, dusty, I can see why you love this ink. The hedgehogs are splendoriffic and the bunny is outright fantabulous! :D

Awww! The hedgehogs are adorable! And love the handwriting.

Thanks for the review, and the one for Red Rubber Ball. Will you be doing the other two Pendleton Brown inks as well?

Any thoughts on how this compares to PR Ebony Purple and Diamine Eclipse?

If I get them I will. These are the two I have.

Unfortunately I don't have either, but from what i've seen I'd say it would be a close match - maybe a bit redder than eclipse? It reminded me of what i've seen of Damson when I opened it. I wish I had them all to compare, i've been wondering too.

Elizabeth...Diamine Grape is a dark purple close to Flakes review ink but I think darker. Eclipse is a quite dark, almost black purple with a beautiful hint of gold undertone. Both art worthy of a fine pen as it appears, Purpillusion is also. Gotta get some...I'm in a purple funk right now!

Cheers,

Ed

I am a fan of both Eclipse and Ebony Purple, though I consider Eclipse black for all intents and purposes. I don't think I need a third dark-dark purple ink, but you never know. I really like Pendleton's Coco'Mo'!

Flake--I'll trade you a sample of Purpillusion for one of Coco'Mo if you like.

Thank you.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

very nice black color , thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
