Akkerman Ink

While our website: vanness1938.com has not added the akkerman ink- we do have a new shipment on its way. We have had numerous requests for more Akkerman- and had not planned on adding it to our line ( they do not offer us any discounts- we pay retail) I am not sure if we will add it to the site- so the best way to out in your request is by email.

If you have requests PRE- ORDER- it sells faster than we can stock it. email us at vanness1938@sbcglobal.net.

Finally! Someone taking the initiative in bringing this interesting ink (okay and special bottle) into the United States.

$39.00 for the 150ml bottle- We originally did an order for our b and m regulars and it showed up in the background of a picture of Shawn Newton- which resulted in numerous emails. Unfortunately Akkerman will not give us any price break- so we order in increments of 21 (best shipping price) We need to find out who makes the bottle- And get custom inks here in the U.S.

The shipment arrived today.

We sold out of 2 colors before they arrived...

I guess we will order again at the end of the week.

The bottle is a Dutch design from quite long ago. There are also other sizes of this type of bottle, from 60 ml upwards. It was manufactured by a Dutch glass company, for a Dutch ink company. I don't know either where Akkerman sources them - been looking for those myself as well :).

Does the $39.00 include shipping? If not, what's the shipping cost for 1/2/3 bottles?

Thanks again.

The ink arrived packaged like a bank vault: box with ink securely wrapped, foam peanuts inside the Akkerman box, neck sealed with tape.

A bottle of Sailor ink as part of the order came in the same large box, with a lagniappe as well.

I'll go back to Vanness in the future with such great service.

ps to brgmarketing: there was a $3.75 shipping & handling charge, not the full priority mail charge.

Thanks for the shipping information. Well, at least I already know one thing I want for the holidays.

I have tried this ink. It was very neh. Even the bottle was poorly done. I just don't get it.

Which Akkerman ink colors are you carrying? Which ones are still available?

We actually ran out of almost all- Just reordered several of every color - the shocking blue is pre sold out! We have 4 colors right now. Emailing is faster since we are brick and mortar- hard to get back on here during the week. By the time I reply the ink is gone.

What's not to like about the bottle?

Mine came today, packaged the same way. Perfectly intact. Plus I got a Pen magazine and one of those tiny Rhodia pads thrown in for free. Will be doing business with them again!

Much Love--Virginia

Just to let every one know- We were asked not to put this ink on our website or on Amazon etc... the ordering process for these inks will continue to be by email and by phone calls.

I ordered a bottle of Passage Blue this evening via FPN. Thank you, Lisa, for fast and wonderful customer service. I'll be buying from Vanness in the future as well.

Yea, Vanness rocks! And that is my perfectly biased opinion. ;)

FYI, I do suggest if you are interested in getting these inks waiting is not a good idea.

The supplies from the Dutch seem to be limited. :(

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
