Sailor Miruai Le

This is another Sailor seasonal LE ink that I really like. It's a very dark colour, almost black in wet nibs, but it has great sheen and amazing undertone.

It's a confusing, murky, green-blue, which sounds like it should be ugly, but is actually very appealing..

When writing quickly, the shading shows off more of the colour.

Check out the sheen!

Doesn't it look nice on Rhodia dotPad paper?

I love Miruai so much that it makes me sigh happy sighs. I have one bottle, and have owned it for nearly two years without trying it, that's how zealously I am preserving it. I have a broad and slightly dry TWSBI mini that would be perfect for this, though.

Is there a way to tell if this is still a limited edition ink? I just picked up a bottle at Feng Yuan in Hong Kong. It is a nice ink! I am curious if it is an old bottle, or if it has been made a regular edition?

I think that this is one of the old limited editions that will not become a regular ink at Sailor? I could be wrong.

Miruai is one of the seasonal inks that has been re-introduced as a part of the regular Jentle line.

The original limited edition bottle and box look just like the normal Jentle line inks.

The newer, non-limited edition ones look like this:

It would seem I acquired one of the old LEs, since it was in the old box style. I am glad to hear that it has been made part of their regular line. Thanks for the information.

I've got this one inked up and have been unable to get sheen. I do like the color, it's sneaky. It looks black until you see it in another light.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I grabbed a sample of this on a whim when I was trying to qualify for free shipping and I'm so glad I did.

It's an exquisite ink that, when wet, looks EXACTLY like the dried seaweed I like to eat with rice.

In a dry pen the green really comes out and it is very relaxing on the eyes and still looks professional. It's also behaved remarkably on even the worst paper I've thrown at it.

Love this ink!

Absolutely my favorite ink, edging out even Yama-dori. Bought on the strength of both Saskia's and white_lotus' reviews. Beautiful and mysterious and, as Truthpil says, exceptionally well-behaved.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I love this ink! I recently picked up a bottle via Amazon. I love the green-black with sheen - it is wild and absolutely in my daily rotations

Another great find; was browsing around looking for a good DARK green and found it by pure dumb luck! The excellent behavior on cheap paper is an unexpected but welcome bonus

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
