Gary,

Is the Simpole banded pen a special one for your shop? Going to Lichfield pen show? :D

No waiting list, at the moment I have Lapis blue, Aurora , Vintage Diamond ST and Patriot, was hoping to have all 5 finishes available before putting up on market watch, however still waiting on the black pattern pen with Henry's band.

These are the first prototypes that were made last year, was originally having 100 black pens with 4 different engravings, however wasn't too keen on the patterns and got cold feet.

The "Aurora" 100 is very beautiful… with the new nib.
However, it is fitted with the previous "three bands", one wider, and not with the new bands which are like on the fifty eight model
Is this that which you wanted?
Will it be possible to order or these models are already booked ?

I asked for the wider centre band, it's just a personal preference. The band on the vintage diamond is even a little wider than the previous 100's and the Sheffield hallmark is also larger.

I agree when you look at the patterns up close they are wonderful, I just wanted something a little bolder.

prototype for henrys band.jpg

Here's the latest engraving which was sent to me on Friday to go with Henry's band, I love the pattern but feel the band needs something like a barleycorn pattern?

Have to see it next to Henry's band. Some patterns are complementary & some compete.

Yes that would be a big help, however all the bands are at CS and the sample was sent to me without the band. Will post again when I receive more samples of engraving with the band fitted.

Here's the latest engraving sample from CS, decided to go for a full barleycorn not the interrupted pattern shown here and gold trim instead of silver after seeing this example.

Cheers

Mod's in here drooling herself!

I'd go for silver, but concur on the interrupted. You want some negative space or the vertical completes with the curves on the band.

Might go for 10 gold and 10 silver like the Vintage diamond

I agree that it needs the full pattern - the sample sent to you looks a little strange. The nice thing about a black background is that silver and gold both go well with it.

Gave in to temptation and inked it - it's great. Even non-believers at work have noticed it and asked what type of pen it is.

The 100 is kind of an iconic pen that links the vintage Conway Stewart line to the modern so I'm glad its back in production.  That said, the 100 is fairly small and I prefer larger pens along the lines of the Winston, Nelson or Churchill.  I have one Duro and, while its a stunning pen, I rarely ink it.

Very pretty! I  feel the gold cap band picks up the gold flecks in the blue material.

Here's serial no. 2 of the Lapis. I've filled it with Sheaffer Skrip Washable Purple from a 1950s bottle. The nib is an italic fine, you can see the tiny IF mark on the left side of the nib.

I hope it will give you much joy.
