Has Montblanc ever created a demonstrator pen besides for the skeleton edition pens? If so, what is the name of it?

Thanks

they made demonsterators of 146 and 159 to find out the vunerabilities in their design or the places where they might fracture.

there are previous posts here with loads of pics and discussions on then.

You will find a lot of 149 Demonstrator pictures here in the Forum.

But to be honest: I can't stand the optics of the grip zone - either it looks ugly because of that pink sealing material they use or it runs full of ink.

When you search for a good Demonstrator, I would not recommend MB...

Hello:

Here is a demo MB146 celluloid in a current spanish seller page.

http://www.clubestilograficas.com/montblanc-146-celluloid-demostrator-c-1955/

Umm...........that's no demo, and never was. Basically it is the black paint within the barrel that has worn away leaving the clear celluloid, which then has ambered over time. It is NOT a DEMO and should not be advertised as one.

I've heard that also, that the 149 Demos were never put out on the market, but I could be wrong~

A 149 Demo recently sold on eBay Canada. The first time, went for $2500. The second listing only scored $2000.

This is beautiful pen but for the price that it normally achieves on ebay, I'm sure I'll never buty one. I just got a Stipula Demonstrator pen and ink gets in the most annoying places. I wish the pen manufacturers would try to make better seals on all of the demonstrators, it would make them much more appealing to collectors.

Collectors don't ink their pens. Users do.

The pink sealant on the 149 Demonstrators can be easily changed to a clear resin. When inked, they look great and mine writes beautifully. IMHO, having watched the private market for a while, $2000 or even $2500 is cheap for a 149 Demonstrator in good condition with a good nib.

Clear pens and demonstrators are not necessarily the same thing. MB did make demonstrators in that they made non-functional copies of certain MB models. These were meant to "demonstrate" the features of the pens. If I am incorrect I am sure that someone with more knowledge will correct me.

I never noticed there was a difference... So does this mean I have never been a pen collector?

Hi Max,

This picture is incredible. Is the front pen a working 139 demonstrator? I never knew such a pen existed.

You learn a little every day... Werner once said, that it would be better to sell the LEs without any mechanics inside. It would make them cheaper, there would be nothing that could break and the real collectors don't use them at all...

I had some TWSBIs Demonstrators that workes flawless and also my M205DUO runs perfect... ok, ink and pen have the same colour... ;)

I don't agree with their statement 100%

I am a collector of the Writers Edition pens. I do though happen to use a lot of them - this does not change the fact that I am a collector of this series.

I have 3 Starwalkers, I'd never say I collect these, they were bought to be used and used they are.

I'm with you on this one.

If the innards of the pens were something special then it would be good to see them. They are however a purely functional item so are best hidden inside a nicely decorated pen. I think they look cheap.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
