Drooling! I love ripples. They are absolutely amazing. Your collection is quite something. How long did it take you to amass such an awesome collection of 7's?

I do get a bit dizzy looking at them.

UPDATE:

Since this was first posted I have added a GREY #7. Now if someone will just point me in the direction of a BLACK one!

BTW, many people claim to have seen a Yeti. Many claim to have been kidnapped by aliens and taken aboard flying saucers. Yet, I don't know of a single person who even claims to have seen a WHITE #7 nib, never mind owning one. ;)

Yes, the "wet-noodle" has become very popular, so the PINK commands high prices. Actually, the GREY and BROWN are harder to find and also pretty expensive. However, the BLACK (basically the same nib as PINK) is super rare, and is worth a small fortune. A lot of people think the BLACK was produced because macho types didn't want to buy a PINK nib, but wanted a narrow, super-flexy nib.

Beautiful pens Procyon! I usually don't post in this forum, but I bought an unrestored Red Ripple with BROWN nib as well as the original box and paperwork at a local antique store today. So I went looking in this forum for information and saw your great collection. I'm now super excited to see what mine will look like once I get it restored.

I love to write with the BLUE nib. Actually it is my favorite!

  • 1 month later...

Force, that has a later lever on it. Won't hurt the function of course.

I just saw the request for pictures of my ripples, I'll try to take some this weekend.

I did pick up a Black 5 Red and a Black 7 Brown.

ahhh yes, but I suspect finding an original replacement will be easier than a clip.

Finding either one is pretty easy, but a lever box is much easier to replace than a riveted clip.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
