Kevin, for a moment I thought you were selling my favourite pen, then realized it's a twin of mine.

Whoever will get the Mikado will be very happy with it (the 149 and the CS too, of course...).

Wish you a successfull raffle, it's for a good cause (pity I cannot deduct....).

I know not quite 24hrs yet, but can you guess which pen is leading the pack and which one is trailing behind?

Believe it or not, as of this moment, Danitrio is leading the pack, followed by Conway Stewart... Montblanc is REALLY lagging behind. I mean, if you really want a Montblanc in this pristine condition... well you just might get lucky! Odd I know, especially we are not talking about the newer ones with plastic feeds. Go figure.

It would be a tossup between the Dani and the 149 for me. I have to check and see if the tax deduction works in Canada...

I saw these kids test fired the frisbee from this machine last night. And yeah this thing moves. Pretty cool, as I know nothing about robotics.

IMHO, in light of everything that Kevin has done for the pen community, I think it is apropos that we return the favour by supporting this cause. The amount of your gift is not relevant - if a good number of FPN members and from other boards each make a small contribution it will soon add up to large sum of money.

I will be sending my gift after I post this.

For Canadians like me, you should make your gift in the expectation that it will not likely qualify for the non-refundable donations tax credit. Of course, you should confirm this with your tax advisors who are familiar with your particular circumstances.

Thanks Mike for your support and kind words. As a father, I want to do what I can to support my daughter's interests especially in a group of 20 or so students, there are only 3 female students! They will also be going to local Junior high schools to show case their machines and hopefully get more students, and especially girls interested in science and technology!

My Sincere thanks to all folks whom have supported this crazy idea of mine.

Can't believe the Montblanc still trailing the other two by a wide margin... this means, better odds for someone :-)

Anyway, I have to change the closing date to 5/31/13 and my original post updated. This is because the SF Pen Posse will meet on weekend of 6/8 and want to make sure folks sending check has time to mail in their donation. Thanks again.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
