De Atramentis: Document Ink Dark Blue

I couldn’t see this one on the list, but looking again I found Bill’s review at https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=80596 so apologies for the duplicate.

This is an archival (“document”) ink to ISO 12757-2 standards. It is resistant to water and should have good light resistance. I did not expect to like this ink, but I find myself warming to it. Noodler’s ink is almost impossible to get here in the UK and casual import can easily double the price when getting reasonable quantities, so this is a nice alternative.

Hope this is useful to someone.

Great review, and I really love your handwriting!

Thanks for this - now I want a bottle!

Thanks for that. Like the colour, must try some.

Ive been getting Noodlers from Goulet. As long as you dont exceed 2 bottles ive found that you dont get nobbled by customs handing charge and vat. The Ink is cheaper but shipping is expensive but it all balances out. At least you can get it. Generally delivery is within one week so ive no complaints. Great people to deal with

Cheers

Thanks for the review. I had been unsure of the differences between this and the deA Archive ink, and your reviews have cleared this up for me. Thanks once again.

Ditto... good to hear this. And that it is not their other 'archival' 'non-FP' ink. Will now order some.

Looks like a nice and dark blue  Thanks for sharing

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I have both the Blue and the Dark Blue Document Inks....

Amazing stuff!!!

It's resistant to sunlight. I am a nurse and I held the paper with the ink under the Tap, I also poored hand desinfectant (Sterilium) on it. Desinfectant even removes biro ink of your skin... But here comes the wonder nothing happened to the De Atramentis document ink. It's like t was carved in stone...

I´ll post a writng sample in the coming days...

By the way try the Khaki and the Jane Austen Green... Very lovely in an Italic nib

So now the $64,000 question: is it safe in your pen and will it lead to difficult to handle clogs?

Yes it's safe in your Fountain Pen. It.s made of nano particles as Dr Jansen told me. this means that it does not clog your feed. When changing to another ink simply flush with a bulb syringe...

Only disadvantage, it takes longer to clean your converter because you cannot flush it...

But why don't you call him... Friendly and ver enthusiatic Guy who will take all the time to answer your questions.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
