Do we really need Java? I have no Java on one of my machines, used to work well with FPN.

D.ick

Java and javascript are not the same thing.  You don't need to install Java to access Fountain Pen Network.

Many thanks to all those who put in so much hard work to keep this place up and running.

Just clicked on Paper and Pen Paraphernalia and was redirected...again.
Running Safari on iPad and had cleared cookies and data and history whilst FPN was offline.
I was not logged in when this happened.

You must flush your DNS cache too, as that still can redirect you. The cache is there to bypass the DNS server (and save time) on a next visit to a site. But if an address has changed, or you have a redirect, that stil will be in the cache so you have to flush that too, as Wim explained elsewhere.

I notice that the previous problem of thread notification emails failing to show up has returned....using google mail at that. Anyone else?

I understand some resource-heavy features were temporarily disabled because of the slow reaction of the board.

This might be one of them.

I still got redirected when I clicked on "Sign In". I am using Google Chrome on iPad 2 and have cleared the Cache and Cookies and Site Data. Where do I clear the DNS? I have also cleared the Cookies and Cache on Safari and on Puffin which I also use and which were also afflicted.

It has certainly been a tough few days and I would like

to commend all of the members of the FPN board that

helped resolve the issues and bring the board back.

Bravo!

Thank you very much for all the hard work, and sorry that you had to deal with something like this in the first place.

Hi Jeffery,

Please clear your browser cache and temp files once more, while not beign logged on to FPN, preferably just from an empty page with that open only, then close the browser. Next reopen it again, and log on. That should really solve this problems, as these links only persist in browser caches now.

Warm regards, Wim

I never got any redirects.  I am glad to see the board back up.  It does seem much faster now.  The last time it was like cold molasses.

Thanks to everyone involved.

My pron-censoring software is letting me know that things are getting blocked when I'm meandering around the FPN.

I cannot deduce what the specifics are, but something is feeding into the system that is probably not intended by the FPN.

Thanks for your efforts on this sad matter, past, present, and future.
