FPN is looking all wonky for me. It looks normal when I am logged out, but when I log in, it is in some sort of different view or skin or something. I can't figure out how to reset it.

That should be fixed now, I've reset the skin you selected I think, to the current one. The IP.Board pre 3.2 skin was available in the Theme selection menu as a remnant of the upgrade, but it doesn't work with the current version of the board software - I have disabled it completely now, so that can't happen again ;).

Also, please do clear browser cache and temp files as mentioned above. It is an absolute must.

HTH, warm regards, Wim

Thank you.

FPN team,

Thanks much. I have an idea of what sort of work level you folks went through - not fun, not easy, high stress (for me, I hate having to work where I have to check every foothold, and carefully consider each move)...

I do appreciate it, and hope the donate button is supplying enough revenue to cover this. This is real work, and "clean the septic fields" work.

Thanks much,

Mike

Well done, all. I'm in the computer biz, and have a sense of how much work this required.

Unintentional repeat post. Board s/w not smoothed out yet, apparently, but so what? FPN is back.

Do we really need Java? I have no Java on one of my machines, used to work well with FPN.

Huge thanks to everyone involved in this gargantuan task of putting things right. Much appreciated!

Java and javascript are not the same thing. You don't need to install Java to access Fountain Pen Network.

Many thanks to all those who put in so much hard work to keep this place up and running.

Just clicked on Paper and Pen Paraphernalia and was redirected...again.

Running Safari on iPad and had cleared cookies and data and history whilst FPN was offline.

I was not logged in when this happened.

You must flush your DNS cache too, as that still can redirect you. The cache is there to bypass the DNS server (and save time) on a next visit to a site. But if an address has changed, or you have a redirect, that stil will be in the cache so you have to flush that too, as Wim explained elsewhere.

I notice that the previous problem of thread notification emails failing to show up has returned....using google mail at that. Anyone else?

I understand some resource-heavy features were temporarily disabled because of the slow reaction of the board.

This might be one of them.

I still got redirected when I clicked on "Sign In". I am using Google Chrome on iPad 2 and have cleared the Cache and Cookies and Site Data. Where do I clear the DNS? I have also cleared the Cookies and Cache on Safari and on Puffin which I also use and which were also afflicted.

It has certainly been a tough few days and I would like

to commend all of the members of the FPN board that

helped resolve the issues and bring the board back.

Bravo!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
