First Impressions:

I bought the ink and when it arrived I was very excited. I love Edgar Allan Poe and was psyched to have a bottle of ink with his face on it. But to be honest I frowned at the color. When I think of Poe green does not come to mind. I think the ink should have been a blood red or a dark purple or even a black. But they chose green and I got the bottle regardless...

Performance:

The ink is very lubricated, almost too much for my tastes. It is almost slippery, which is an odd feeling. The color is good it's a mid green that looks nice on paper. It doesn't shade as much as I'd like but the quick dry time and lack of any feathering more than makes up for it. It shows through on cheap paper but there only small spots of bleed through. All in all it is a nice well behaved ink.

BUT....

I like this ink but keep coming back to fact it doesn't fit Poe. What may happen is that this ink may get put into another bottle and I may put this ink into the Poe bottle...

DeAtramentis makes nice inks but the colors for some of the historic figures are odd choices. Some of the scented ones are odd too, look at Plum.

Thank you for this review. It's a nice colour, though I prefer the colour in the Goulet swab to the colour in your scan.

I'm always intrigued when people say that it's an odd name to go with the colour. Who would people suggest would be more suited to a green ink? Racking my brains, the only characters I could think of were the Wicked Witch of the West and Kermit the Frog...

It's quite nice out here in the sunshine...

It's odd the color changes slightly on the paper I used, it turns almost to a teal/green. I am not sure why though...

I am a big fan of Poe and just didn't think green suited him, it was too cheery... I think you could do green for Charles Darwin because of all the things he did with the natural world....

Hmm.... I'm with you on the color choice. Of course Poe would be some shade of black --- blackest black or murky black or well, anything black. Maybe a violent blood red but NOT green.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
