Neither of these would have been my choice, but I think they both look wonderful. It's a tribute to the wisdom of crowds. I am slightly envious of everyone who is getting one. :)

My first Edison pen, ( an ebonite Briar Swirl), is now on order. Can't wait, - but I'm going to have to. I hope Brian will keep us posted like he did on the last group buy. It will be fun to follow the progress of "our" pens.

I'm shocked that I'm so bowled over by the Neon. I will definitely be getting the Briar Swirl, but am now considering the acrylic as well... hmm...

Neon ordered. Very excited! Also hoping for a single digit LE number. Would be nice if they went out in the sequence the orders were placed. Like a reward for early adopters. Not really sure why a lower number feels better. Just does. Thank you Brian for doing this for us!

Thanks!

Just so people understand, historically we've done the numbering from low to high, starting with XF up to B. So XF nibs would be the low numbers, Broads will be with high numbers.

I have no idea how we'll do it this time, especially since we now have italics to offer (which just left Germany, by the way!!!! Should be here next week!)

Maybe we'll surprise you with how the numbering works......dunno yet!

Same here, I was in the Briar Swirl camp myself, but now that the Neon won the acrylic vote... oh the debate.

Brian: I hate to be a bother but do you have any closer up shots of the fine detail of the Neon pattern? I'd originally thought it was just orange but it looks like a red/yellow mix on second looks.

For those that want closer details the link is on the ordering page at the top, click through then hit the O at the top to see the images at the original size.

Really looking forward to the italic nib either way.

Ugh.

I want people to understand before I ask this question that I have each of these nibs and enjoy them all. I'm not asking what they're about. I'm pondering what to do and will accept any feedback.

Broad, 1.1, or 1.5? Hmm...

Hmmm, that is tough. My suggestion, since you're torn, would be to split the difference and go with the 1.1.

Contact me and we'll work out one of the nibs as a separate purchase.

As an aside, will the 1.1 and 1.5 nibs be available through normal retail channels soon? I may order one ahead of these pens being finished...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
