Rohrer & Klingner Blu Mare

Here's a vibrant, punchy, light blue ink from R&K. You probably won't like it if you mostly use cheaper paper and wet pens, but on Rhodia it certainly has that oomph that I love.

On a side note, my reviews are going to look a little different for a while. The new computer is too new for my old scanner, so all new reviews (most of which are already written) will be photographed using sunlight and a custom white balance to better represent the true color of the inks. I'll also be going back and re-photographing some old reviews with inaccurate scans.

I hade the same problem with my scanner. I have a lovely old HP but none of our new computers know what to do with it. I keep an old torn up mule here just for scanning... how dumb!

On my monitor this looks kind of like the waterman turquoise... whatever it's called now. Used to be southsea blue. You know.. the one everyone but me hates. ANyways, there's sure room in the R&K line for something other than the Verdigris. If you had to pick would you buy this or Beau Blue?

Oh man! That's a tough one... I really like both, buuuuuut...

I have to say Beau Blue. :) I will say that I like Blu Mare's color more, but Beau Blue looks better on Rhodia to me.

Your reviews are always wonderful. Thank you.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thanks for keeping up with the reviews despite your computer/scanner problems. I think that the photos should work out fine - some prefer photos over scans.

I did not get this ink when I ordered some 5 R&K inks, only because I have too many turquoise inks.

I do like South Sea Blue...still.

So do I! I think you and I are the only ones on the forums who like that ink. I have it loaded in my Careen right now actually.

Another thread with photo bucket pics that are missing! Is there a way to attach the pics to the FPN servers instead of third party servers so the pics stay attached to the threads? I find this a lot.

The images don't show up in my browser. Instead, I get a message prompting me to upgrade to Photobucket Plus. I don't have regular Photobucket so I don't know why I'm being prompted to upgrade. This is frustrating. How can I view the images?

Thanks!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
