Update on our Ranga Indian ebonite pens ...

In addition to the Ranga one-off pens we've built with vintage nibs, and the ones we've converted to Sheaffer filling systems, we're happy to announce the following:

RANGA BLOW-FILLERS:

We've just finished adapting a few pens to work as blow-fillers:

a Bamboo model with a modern Parker Duofold nib (above photo), a model 4 in brown mottled hard rubber (round top, flat bottom) and a few of the rounded top and bottom model 4c (one in orange below and one in black and yellow.) These last two can be fitted with Sheaffer No Nonsense nibs for a total price of $80.

If you want to see how we adapt these eye dropper pens to be blow-fillers, see our Blog post here.

RANGAS WITH SHEAFFER IMPERIAL STEEL NIBS

We're especially pleased with how well the standard sized Ranga 4CS adapts to a Sheaffer Imperial inlaid nib from the 444 series:

I've added some of the Model 4CS pens with the Sheaffer inlaid nibs to the web site here.

The ones with steel short diamond inlaid nibs are priced at $68, and we can put a long diamond inlaid 14k nib on the pen for another $45.

Also added today are more of the gigantic Model 5 pens in different colors. These can be configured as eye droppers or cartridge/converter fillers or blow fillers, and are priced at $85.

Thanks!

The JoWo (German) nib units have arrived, so we now have two new Ranga offerings:

MODEL 3 AKA DUOFOLD - These include the large German screw-in nib units made by JoWo. Offered at $80 (or $95 for the premium ebonite colors), these include a converter.

MODEL 4C (rounded ends)- These also include the large German screw-in nib units and are also offered at $80 (or $95 for the premium ebonite colors), these include a converter.

We only have fine and broad nibs at this time, and expect the mediums in a few weeks.

Here are a few photos ....

We will also be able to offer some of these pens with 14k nibs for an additional $100.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
