I'd like to get hold of a pen wrap for my pens and wondered if anyone might be able to help. I'm in the UK so if it is sold by a retailer here that would really help. I don't necessarily need it to be made of leather, any well-crafted wrap will be considered. Obviously price is also a factor but perhaps not predominant - say no more than £40 or $60US? I'd like to carry up to five pens but would consider a wrap with more capacity.

I've just been researching this myself. A bit over your budget, but I've just ordered one of these: Chan's Handmade fountain pen case.

Or you could consider these ones. UK made I think. www.wrapture.eu

Hi Michael,

I had considered that for about half a second before concluding that I had neither the haberdashery skills or equipment (sewing machine?) required. I would love to make my own so if you have the patience of a saint and think these issues can be overcome, I would really appreciate your help with this.

AltecGreen and Shuggy, they are beautiful and I’ll seriously consider both suggestions in case plans for a homemade solution are fruitless.

I have a thread on pen wraps somewhere there is a walk through here
http://www.fountainp...50#entry2604260

You will need two pieces of leather two needles thread ruler masking tape that is about it really.
I should be able to talk you through it I might be able to help with the leather as long as you like blue green or brown I am running out of red.

Thanks so much Michael, I'm going to have a go at this but I might try it with material instead of leather - I know where I can get hold of some of that and I've spotted a great looking tartan that might work for the outer piece. Your walk-through offers some great tips which will help no end. I'll let you know how I get on and keep you informed of progress. I can guarantee it'll not be finished in a day but hopefully it'll not take too long.

Very cool that you are going to try to make your own pen wrap, Craig.

If you do decide to buy a pen wrap instead, +1 for Wrapture Kathryn is indeed in England and does excellent work, IMHO. I hate sewing, probably because I can not sew to save my life - it's quite a production when I need to sew on a button, there's no telling what I might manage to hook with the needle and sew to the shirt along with the button....  - which is why I bought a pen wrap from Wrapture. No affiliation, just a very happy cutomer. Here are some photos (originally from Kathryn's site) of the one I bought:

(It might be a bit colorful for some, but I love it - and she definitely has wraps for those with more conservative tastes, as well.)

Have fun with your project, Craig!

Wow, they're great and such a reasonable price - completely missed your mention of them Shuggy, sorry!. I'm really keen to try making my own but might well buy one of these too in the meantime. Thanks so much for the pointer, I'll keep you posted on progress.

:D That didn't take long, did it Craig? Very nice!

I hope you really like it; and once you have it you might get some more design ideas for the pen wrap you are going to make. (You are still going to make one?? )

Then you need to buy more pens Craig

:roflmho:
The formula works like this

Too many pens = buy more storage

Too much storage = buy more pens

Well, I received my 'Chan's Handmade' pen wrap in just 6 days from Taiwan. I think that it's absolutely beautiful! The fabric is striking and the quality top notch. It is suede lined, so the wrap keeps its shape very well. It's advertised as 5+1, but will easily take two slim pens in the outer pocket.

Thanks, they are lovely..... For someone who is new to fountain pens, you really know how to accessorise, I like the cover, need something more feminine though. I too love the Clairefontaine notebooks.

I agree that it is a thing of beauty but perhaps slightly beyond my means right now. I notice some from the same seller are just about to budget though, so I'll consider these as my pen collection grows.

I'm part way through the construction of my own effort, will post pics here however it turns out.
