I'll kick this off with my Polar Lights and iroshizuku Chiku Rin. As you can see here in the Review the green on the barrel is ranging from very dark to very light. So, before this I had MB Racing Green and Shin Ryoku in between, and now this.

I commend you for for typing both color and colour. My canadian-ness is happy.

I tend to match my Noodler's Konrad Tortoise Brown with Noodler's #41.

Cheers mate :) Nice brown matching as well! The EF Pilot looks stunning.

And here is another I just took a picture of, pardon the 'tablet' camera.

This pen has a steel nib, a metal section, a wooden barrel that is prone to staining, and weigh 50g, therefore top heavy when posted. And a C&C filler :headsmack:

Not popular for many, but I'm not Many, I am Tony. :roflmho:

I have one of these in "white croc." and I have small - ave. sized (F) hands; I really like it despite the metal & the weight - the nib is smooth and soft.

Just picked up this TWSBI from the classifieds. Loaded it up with Noodler's Apache Sunset and am very happy with the result.

Just ordered an Imperial Blue Lamy Studio, which I'm going to be pairing with Noodler's Bad Belted Kingfisher as soon as it arrives. (The rest of my pens are black, grey, or a demonstrator, and I don't use black ink and don't have any grey ink at the moment, so that's really the only one I can do. I'll have to remember to post a picture this weekend once I have the pen in hand!)

I think this is a good idea and I've already tried it out myself. But to no avail. The inks just don't know the pens by heart (and vice versa). As if that were'nt enough, if you try out a few different specimens of any really good pen and nib, you'll get different results. Handcraftmanship and all that . E.g. Pelikan. Also, many inks have been found to have various wetnesses and lubricities due to changes in their charges.

And... what does my Charlston in ivory say?

Wow, the Polar Lights and iroshizuku Chiku Rin combo is so pretty!!!

Mine is a lot more ordinary combo, but I like it anyway... Monteverde Prima in turquoise with Ottoman Azure.

This is the review I wrote of the Imperial Blue Lamy Studio, using Noodler's Bad Belted Kingfisher.

Not quite sure which pen matches Noodler's Blue Ghost :P

I guess I am in the minority...I make essentially no effort to match ink color to pen color. Right now my green stripe Pelikan has Tsuki-yo in it and my black Pelikan desk pen has Noodler's blue eel, so... No correlation.

You don't have to straight match. Complementary colour of the pen also works well. The opposite of terracotta is turquoise blue. Syoro was too green, but Kujaku is perfect, I reckon. What do you think?

Monteverde Artista Crystal in clear. I don't have either but I could imagine writing with the pen under the UV light and seeing the feed glow along with the cartridge converter. I might have just had an interesting idea :eureka:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
