New Old Stock Update

We just unpacked a crateload of new old stock, excavated by our 1960s-70s time travelling pickers!

SHEAFFER NOS:

Sheaffer Imperial VIII - Fountain pens and ballpoints. This is one of the iconic Imperial models, resembling the PFM V with a gold plated cap and plastic body. The pens have 14k nibs and are Touchdown models, with new O-rings. (Fountain pen $105, ballpoint $35.)

Lady Sheaffer 921 "Flamme" sets in original packaging -- LS 921 isn't a new model for us, but having these "Twosome" sets in the original Lady Sheaffer blue fabric box with all the paperwork is a new development. ($130.)

Sheaffer "Quasi-Imperial" 440 XG -- Just like the more modest and very popular 440, the 440 XG had a brushed metal cap and a plastic body. Unlike the regular 440, it has a 14k V-style inlaid nib. Converter or cartridge filler, offered at $80.

The above three are currently on the web site, but supply is limited (especially for the Imperial VIIIs).

Eversharp Symphony pens are back!

Or at least they will start showing up on the web site next week once we get them sacked and cleaned up. Though we had to pay more this time, we have acquired a few dozen of these incredibly popular pens. We had some towards the end of 2011 and into the beginning of 2012, and we thought we'd never be able to get more. Models 713 and 913 have small flexible 14k nibs, and it looks like we have them in a nice selection of nib sizes. (We'll also be putting some of these great nibs on our smaller Ranga models.)

SECONDS in new models

Customers love our "seconds," new old stock pens that have some varying degrgee of cosmetic damage but still write like new. These make great knock-around every day pens, and are a great source of brand new parts if you want to recondition an old favorite. In the next week or so you will see Imperial IIIs (plastic body, gold trim, short conical nib, Touchdown filler) and Imperial IVs (plastic body and cap, gold trim, 14k long diamond nib, Touchdown filler) appear in our seconds category.

RANGA UPDATE

We now have the Bamboo model in the exotic "Premium Ebonite" colors on the web site. In the next month or so, we will begin offering Ranga pens with German screw-in nib units and converters.

LOS ANGELES PEN SHOW

We won't be there for the chaos on Sunday, but we'll have a small selection of pens to show on Friday and Saturday if you want to drop by and say hello. We'll bring some of the Ranga pens we've spruced up with exotic nibs..... these pens need to be held and written with to be fully appreciated.

Thanks for your continued interest!

I should mention that we only have about 35 of the Imperial VIII pens .... a few sold yesterday so we don't expect them to last long.

We've started listing the Eversharp Symphony flexible pens .... we'll add them as we get them sacked and cleaned up. On the web site now are a few 713 models in black with fine 14k nibs. These are not full flex, but they offer very decent flex.

Thanks!

Hello there!

I can't seem to find the listing for the Imperial VIII ballpoints. Am I already late?

Regards.

Enrique

No, you're plenty early!

I decided not to wait for "good" photos, and the listing is here. We've got a few in three different colors, but less than 30 in total, if that gives you a sense of availability.

Thanks for your interest!

Thanks Teri. I'll keep looking in - I do regularly - in the hope of finding a big nib somewhere. I'd have one of those bamboo fellas like a shot if I could get a stub, OB or a broad too..... ;)

We are putting big fat modern Duofold Centennial nibs on some of our "one-off" Ranga creations. The latest is a double broad cursive italic on a smooth pink (actually burgundy) ripple Model 4c. We just need to get photos done.

I love the look of the Ranga pens! Is it that the list is not yet complete? I'll keep checking in.

Trouble is - that sounds mighty expensive - as an owner of a Duofold Centennial, I know how expensive those nibs are!

Not so bad .... Less than $200 .... Just about the price of the nib, eh?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
