Caran D'ache - Year Of The Snake

La Stilografica Milano

Recommended Posts

Hello,

we have just received 1 picture about the next release of Caran d'Ache.

After the "Year of The Dragon" now, in 2013, it's the turn of the "Year of The Snake"; only 888 pieces for the fountain pen and 888 for the rollerball (no ballpen).

It hasn't yet been released but it should happen in the next month.

That's it for now

Nice pen, pretty series, and quite usable to write with. (unlike some monstrous LEs)

But I think you should post this in the general "writing instruments" subforum as it is not an Italian pen. (or in Market Watch if you want to offer it for sale)

Hello RMN,

thank you for your reply; i agree with you it seems a nice pen.

I was looking for a "Caran d'Ache" dedicated forum and i asked to a Moderator (i didint know where to post this info) and he told me that "Penne Stilografiche della Bella Italia" it's the more appropriate choice for Caran d'Ache.

Aniway, thanks for suggestion

Well, I imagine the decision was based on the location of Geneva and that there is no general Swiss, French or German sub-forums.

Hi, RMN:

I like your quotations, but I have a few suggestions on how to improve them.

How about the following: "You are severely handicapped if you insist on spelling a word only one way"; or, "A person who refuses to spell a word more than one way is severely handicapped"; or, "It is a handicap to spell a word only one way"; or, "To spell a word only one way is to handicap yourself"; or, "People who spell a word only one way, handicap themselves"; or, "To spell a word only one way is to handicap yourself; what's more, it's stewpid"; or, "To handicap yourself by spelling a word only one way is stewpid"; or, perhaps best of all, "To spell a word only one way is stewpid." I could go on and on, but I won't.

The only change I would I would make to your other quotation ("The last pen I bought . . ..") would be to add the word "fountain" to "pen." That's entirely up to you, however.

Rite on,

Don

Hi Don

I can't quite follow your chain of thought here. What do you try to explain here?

Hi, D.ick:

Sorry for the confusion. My reply was to have gone to member jar, but it didn't. Jar has three quotations at the end of his box, and I was simply suggesting some improvements for them.

I came upon this thread by searching for details about this pen, because I looked at one in my local papeterie today.

I don't think the concept of Italian Fountain Pen includes in any way pens that are made in countries geographically adjacent to Italy.

Geneva - where Caran d'Ache is located - is definitely not in Italy.

A fascinating pen to look at in real life, anyway. But not quite as spectacular as the Year of the Dragon edition.

Thanks Wim. I shall ink a pen with FPN Dumas Tulipe Noire this weekend in your honour. :happyberet:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
