Pen Posse Cafe Salina

Recommended Posts

Since, Farmboy and I need an excuse to go eat at Cafe Salina and Lisa needs to eat lunch, we will have another Pen Posse this Sunday. The venue will be Cafe Salina which is new for Pen Posse. It is a Hong Kong Style cafe and about three blocks from Peter's. This one might be more food centric.

Don't worry about noodles. 40% of the menu has some form of noodles. The food ranges from traditional southern Chinese to what would be termed Asian fusion even though the food was developed decades before fusion was applied to food,

If you want the HK experience, I recommend the baked spaghetti with pork chop in a tomato sauce. If you are braver, go for the beef tongue in cream sauce over baked spaghetti or fried rice.

I'll be there trying to find something with no noodles, no rice, no sugar... no dumplings :-(

Did anyone take pictures?

Not this week. It was a small turnout as I predicted. This one was more food centric but it turned into a blue ink fest. We'll definitely have more Pen Posses at Cafe Salina. The only issue is the lack of parking or at least a more challenging parking situation.

I introduced people to several new food concepts like basic HK milk tea and HK tea and coffee combo as well as sesame paste soup dessert.

Sorry I missed it. Also, I did not make it to the gym.

ARGH!

Probably won't bike to work tomorrow, either.

Stupid flu. Gah.

Looking forward to trying out Salina one of these days.

Hey, how about Cha Cha Cha again? That was fun.

Get some more rest and get well. No more staying up late. :headsmack:

We'll do Salina again for sure. We can do Cha Cha Cha too.

So do we go for five in a row this weekend? Also I'm thinking the 26th for the secret Posse.

Salina was very good, but I do prefer the easy parking and lower tab at Peter's.

Although I usually prefer Sundays, next weekend Sunday the 20th would be no-posse for me -- it's the huge delicious Fancy Food Show at Moscone... So I'd actually prefer Saturday even if I can't get there until nearer 3pm.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
