Here are all the Noodler's blues I have access to, and I was kind of surprised by the results for a few of them. I can't promise the colors are accurate, but the test is. Soaking time was about 3-4 minutes.

Thanks. I always like ink comparisons. there are so many beautiful colors out there it is hard to choose.

As an owner of about half of those blues and considering adding a few others, your comparison is much appreciated!

TWSBI 530/540/580/Mini, Montblanc 146, Pelikan M800, Tomoe River paper, Noodlers inks ... "these are a few of my favorite things"

Great review and nice to see what happens to some of the inks that I'll never own, due to supply difficulties and costs.

What happened to Starey Night after the rinse?

 

Do you mean why is it reddish? I'm guessing it's just the red component of the ink that's waterproof.

That's the same thing I noted in my recent ink test that included 15 iron gall offerings.

Wow, thank you! I had expected Midway to hold up better. I've found that Midway holds up nicely in fade tests and survives coffee spills. It looks like Midway will not survive the flood.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Oooooo thanks for posting this, I love seeing how 54th Massachusetts compares to the other Noodler's blues, it's definitely on my watch list for Blue/Blacks. I also think it's amusing how completely ludicrous BSB looks in that lineup, sheesh!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
