Postcard Project - Your Assistance Please

Folks,

I have a newborn in the house. This is #1 for me and the wife. It has inspired and idea, but I need your help to make it successful.

I imagine tacking postcards up on the wall around his crib sent from around the globe, all written to the little guy, all welcoming him to the world. They can be written in whatever language, with whatever welcoming words, provided an English translation is in the margins somewhere. This is a chance to exercise your favorite pen. Anything goes.

I can reciprocate with a postcard from my hometown sent to any address you like, along with buckets of karma for helping me with this project. I anticipate My wife will get all teary at the sight of welcome postcards from around the globe.

If you can help, please send a postcard to:

Elliot Whitchurch

7026 Quander Rd

Alexandria, VA 22307

USA

PM your address and I'll gladly reciprocate. At the moment I'm writing with an Onoto with grey ink.

Many many thanks

-cameraflier

Apologies for my paranoia. Having already posted a name and address, I'm hesitant to share his birthday also. I fear the pre-approved credit cards will start piling up at the door. Suffice that Mom hasn't gone back to work yet. He's still pretty fresh.

Please don't be put off by my lack of response. It's a feeble nod to responsibility on my part.

I'll rephrase the question: Is he a December (Christmas Baby.) I have two nephews born in December and we call them Christmas Babies (although they are grown with families of their own.) One nephew even married a woman born on the same day (different year.)

No Ma'am.

We're nearing the two-month mark.

Okie dookie, so now I know not to make any Christmas baby comments in my post card! He's getting to be a big boy already.

And by the way, Congratulations, NEW PARENTS! The most wonderful gift of all!

A Card to follow!

(Do you remember the movie E.T. The way he said Elliot! I always loved that! Nice strong name.)

I'll be glad to send a card or two! But, since you're tacking them, will you be tacking them so the picture shows, or the note? Or will you be mixing and matching?

So far, mix and match.

But ideas are sprouting. I'll post pictures.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
