I've closed that tab, now. Just do a search for lamy al-star green - the seller's based out of the UK, so make sure you've got international sellers enabled.

Think this is the seller you're meaning: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290670370800?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D290670370800%26_rdc%3D1

Spotted them late yesterday and indulged in ordering the ones I was missing. Then I ordered a Pearl. Then I ordered the Graphite and Aluminium I was also missing.

That was a fun explanation to the wife when I crawled into bed. I was so :cloud9: and she was :yikes:

OMG. That seller's prices are insanely low! But they deliver only to the UK. :crybaby: I want me a silver blue!

I will let you into a little secret. As noted, they have some fountain pens that are very nicely priced, but the listings indicated they did not ship to Australia - although some of the higher priced pens they had were available to Australia. I had nothing to lose, so an email later, the seller indicated no problems for a sale. (Four pens were purchased so that may have also made a difference). Placed the order, they added the postage to the order as a manual action, and then I paid. Pens arrived a couple of weeks later. One very happy customer.

The other "trick" that I have used in the past as well, was to see if the seller has a web site. Goods could be purchased via that path, rather than eBay.

I did send an email but they didn't want to ship to the Philippines, even when I said I had PayPal. Boohoo. But good for you that they accommodated you. Let me try looking for a website. I hope I fare better there. Thanks for the tip!

Sort of off topic, but has anyone ordered from flipkart.com? It's in India. They have the aquamarine Safari that I've been wanting.

Unfortunately, I think we are at the mercy of two basic factors:

1) The tastes of the German school pen buying public (mostly kids?)

2) The marketing tie-ins that Lamy is able to arrange, which I recall vividly was a big part of why we got Orange two years so closely together -- they had some home market marketing deal with another company on a cross-promotion

Since it seems unlikely they're going to move in the direction of a violet/purple or more staid colors, I'd really love to see them work on tinted translucent Vistas. I know Safaris are ABS. Is the Vista? Can ABS be tinted translucent with good results?

I've been searching online and could not find any news of when they new Lamy Safari color for 2013 will be out. Any updates?

According to the Goulet web page, they're expected in April.

There are pictures and a video on Ink Nouveau.

I'm sure some will like it, but I personally would never use something like this. On the bright side, if I get it, I guess I wouldn't need to buy a converter.

I wanted to get a safari as a starter pen, and was looking forward to the new colour announcement. I almost choked when I realized they weren't kidding, and it really was another yellow. Ah well, I know the all-star is getting some heat in this thread, but I went with that. If I can't have a special colour, at least I'll have a metal finish.

awww really? highlighter yellow? I really need to pick up a lime green one before they run out

Highlighter yellow? Mmmmmm, not sure on that.

iamchum - have a look in OfficeWorks if you can. Noticed in one here in Canberra they had the fountain pen and rollerball still available. Of course, normal Australian retail price so $$, but they are getting scarce now.

There is a Australian Company on Ebay selling safaris cheap ! 21.99 posted

I can vouch for this eBay seller. I purchased a Lamy Al-Star Raspberry from them via Buy It Now, brand new with a medium nib and without a converter. It came exactly as described, and still in the blister pack. And the price is indeed very low, considering that it's a discontinued Lamy. Packaging was good, shipping was fast, shipping charges were actually lower than the others. I'm always watching his other items, in case a Lime Safari or an Orange Safari comes up at 30 USD.

Martiniauctions' starting prices are quite high, so I prefer this other seller.

According to this Web site, the AL Star Special Edition 2013 is PEARL.

It is not a special edition, actually, but a new color added to the regular line.

Now this is an interesting conundrum as the distributor for Lamy Canada attended our pen club meeting tonight and indicated that the pearl is a limited edition and not a regular line pen.

We were also teased that there is another limited colour arriving in the autumn, unfortunately no further details were forthcoming and the colour is a well kept secret.

They don't deliver outside of India. Too bad. I saw some nice items.

Thank you for sharing that. I appreciate it.

And it is confirmed as neon yellow. Really, really neon yellow.

I refer my learned friend to post #8 in this thread.

Martin

Martin, have been wondering of we might expect your usual Lamy Safari announcement once the new color is actually on the shelves?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
