Hi

Does anyone know where i can acquire a bottle of the alfred hitchcock ink from? Im located in the uk. Ive rang up several places in the uk, but all out of stock. It seems a vast majority of this ink has ended up in the states according to google. Cant find any uk or europe supplier selling it.

+1 (I'm working in the Midlands for 6 months)

This ink is hard to track down!

Is it strictly limited? Is it nearly all gone?

Is it worth the £30 people are asking on ebay?

I've never used it, yet I seem to have withdrawal symptoms.

I may be able to help Mosh 2k7 out with this but will know more tomorrow. I have been in touch with him via the PM system. It will NOT be anywhere near the £30 mark which, considering the size of the bottle is madness !!

In my opinion, no.

I jes inked a 1.5mm Hero from a new bottle of AH I got last week. Big wide strokes of red. I'm kinda disappointed. It's rather a darker red than I anticipated, going right over the line into purple. There were a lotta threads on whether or not is was really the color of blood. Well, it's not even close to fresh blood. More like clotting blood, Almost black blood. Don't get me wrong. It is a nice dark red and it shades nicely. But Diamine Matador is closer to fresh blood than AH. Truth be told, I like the box AH came in better than the ink, itself.

Right now I'm collecting red inks, looking for that be-all to end-all red. A red so red, makes yer eyes bleed. When I find it, I'll do a red ink comparison. BTW, I jes eliminated Diamine Poppy red. Too orangey. I got some Noodler's red coming. Stay tuned.

Note to Mr Greene: I now have some Pilot red. Came with my PPPs. A nice bright red and definitely in the running. ;)

I thought it is more a bloody red.

This is my sample.

GPB 30 on ebay? I am very glad that I have 3 bottles!

Looks purplish on a Brawny paper towel to these geezer eyeballs.

I definitely like the Winter Glow Red. Is this a MB LE ink? I need to know how much time I have. ;)

Yes it is a limited ink. It has the same bottle as the hitchcock ink.

How limited? I don't know. I think it is more an one time batch that they make.

Called at the home of Mosh last night to drop him off a bottle of AH, it went onto a bit of a pen show with us showing each other our various 'instruments'.

Nice chap with a certain pen that caught my eye. Not MB so will keep it to myself for now :happyberet:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
