Paperthinks Notebook Fountain Pen Friendly?

Serafinachantal

Recommended Posts

I seriously fell in love with the colorful notebooks by Paperthinks.com. There's no weight of the paper given, but I assume with 256 pages it must be on the thinner side.

Did someone already use them and can tell me if they are fountainpen friendly? And maybe give a comparison to, say, the paper of the moleskine notebook? I mostly use a fine-nibbed Pilot Prera.

I would really like to know beforehand, because shipping to Germany is quite expensive and I really don't want another notebook sitting useless on the shelf... :(

The fact that the paper says it is partially recycled would make me hesitate. Not a lot of recycled papers are FP friendly :(

These are so pretty! I'm not sure about the notebook, but the sketchbook is 112gsm, so I'd say that's probably FP friendly. They have an enquiry button so you could always shoot them a message.

I've been wondering the same thing. They're so pretty and I love the colour variety; if they were FP friendly, that'd be perfect. They do show a picture of them with a Lamy Vista on Facebook but who knows if that means anything?

I've used a few of them and I find them very fountain pen friendly. I primarily use a Pelikan with J. Herbin ink and have been very pleased with the results.

Kathleen86: What is the nib size on the pen you use and the ink colour. J. Herbin flow and wetness seems to vary in differing colours with my XXf and EF nibs, Pelikan's, Edison's and Sheaffer's. Thanks, Jim

Where might one buy one of these online? I tried paperthinks website, but they do not sell to individuals.

I am also wondering about how fp friendly these notebooks are. They sure are pretty!

Has anyone actually purchased a Paperthinks product yet? Curious to know, as Kate's Paperie in NYC carries them, and I'm looking for a new FP-friendly notebook...

I haven't tried one yet. I have thought about it, but I am hesitant to invest in another pretty journal with bad paper. I have too many of those already. Beautiful on the outside, horrible on the inside, lol.

I recently just had the idea to get a Clairefontaine Basic notebook and decorate the outside myself with some pretty fabric, a ribbon marker, maybe some lace flowers on the cover....a visit to Hobby Lobby would be in order. ;)

I want a pretty journal, good paper, and a reasonable price. But this seems hard to come by. So I might need to resort to a diy journal.

Somehow in all the notebook choices I seemed to overlook the Clairefontaine Basic notebooks, which seem to write twice as well as Moleskines for half the cost (?!). Crazypants. And with the

I emailed Paperthinks asking for a sample of their paper, and they surprised me by informing me that they'll be sending me a 2014 planner gratis to test their paper quality. If anyone would like a few sheets when it arrives I'll be happy to send it out, and I'll be sure to make a review and post it here on FPN. Excitement! Tessy, I'll be sure to let you know how it works out.

Update! Paperthinks surprised me by sending me a tiiiiny notebook to sample rather than an out-of-date planner, which was a highly classy move on their end.

I only wish the paper was as classy as the technique :( What did I think? Well, read my....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
