Pelikan M600 White Tortoise

Hello.

I just received this beautiful pen today, and I thought I'd share some pictures of it. :)

I remember thinking that there weren't really that many good pictures of this pen available when I considered purchasing it, so I set out to change that fact.

Most of the photos were taken in the natural November light here in Denmark, but there are some with flash and some at my kitchen table under a lamp.

In addition, I shot a few comparison photos with my Pelikan M215.

All 54 pictures can be downloaded in full resolution via the link in the bottom of the last post.

Enjoy!

Great pictures and a great pen. I have the 400 version.

What ink do you reckon you'll use in it?

- Yes, it's quite magnificent. I really adore the green/brown tortoise look with the gold and the white/cream colour. It's very elegant and well balanced. It's a pen design that just makes sense. And it writes so well!

I inked it with Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-jaku not long after taking the pictures. It is the first time I'm using this ink, and I was quite surprised by its greenness. It starts blue but then dries to a sort of green-blue with a reddish quality to it - very interesting! It made the Asa-gao in my M215 look almost violet. ;)

One interesting thing is that the F nib on the M600 is wider than the F nib on my M215. I didn't expect that. I'll have to see how that suits me once I put it to some more use...

You just had to do that didn't you? I thought I was finally able to resist this one, but now...I want that!

Love that pen!!!

Amazing photos... I have to bookmark this thread.

Along with looking for quality photos like you took and posted I have been looking for some comparison pictures of the 400 & 600 next to each other to see the size difference especially with the nib.

Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing these with us!

*sigh* Make that three. And I already have a bottle of R&K's Alt Goldgrun just waiting to be paired with the pen...

I'm glad everyone liked the pictures!

And I'm sorry for making people want the pen. B)

- You should look into

in which he compares it with both an M800 and an M200 (which is the same size as the M400). I'm not sure how the nib sizes of the M400 and M600 compare, though...

I have always wanted one of these, now I have to get one.

Before you judge someone walk a mile in their shoes. Then if you still judge them you will have a headstart and they will be barefoot.

  • 1 year later...

Thanks for the pix.

I had been wondering what a "white tortoise" looked like.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
