Hello fellow FPN members. Thank you all for your input on this project, your support and excitement around an online retailer here in Ontario means the world and I can’t thank you enough.

We’ve arranged an official launch date for Alexander Pen Company:

Monday, October 15th, 2012.

Because of a suggestions coming from FPN users, I wanted to offer my thanks. Originally, opening day was going to be free shipping for everyone, however I’ve decided that opening day will be free shipping for FPN users. To offer my thanks for your support thus far, use the discount code “FPN” on opening day from 12:00am to 11:59pm at checkout to get free shipping on your order.

There will be discounts in the future for the general public, but the first one is for you.

The website is still progressing, I just got our Noodler’s photography finished and put up, we’re just waiting on the shipment from Edison Pens to arrive and then we’ll be fully stocked for opening. A couple more tweaks and we’ll be all set.

I look forward to your support in the future, and you can look forward to mine as well.

-Duncan Alexander Thompson

Will you be adding more inks by Herban and Noodlers prior to your Grand Opening?

I hope you carry cartridges as well. I'm not a big cartridge user, but I find it a good option depending on where I am etc. I'd rather take a handful of cartridges on a business trip than a few bottles of ink.

I find that I am now giving away pens to some of my best clients, and most of them love the fountain pen idea, but don't want to deal with ink bottles, especially the women.

Just an idea. If you do, I will be sure to buy them from you.

I'm going to work on that, it seems most of the suppliers offer cartridges in international. I will certainly get those on the list of things to include in the next order.

The cartridges are a fairly low priority for me, I'm more interested in a Vac700 and some (cough, cough) Bay State Blue (to see what all the fuss is about).

I can always pick up generic cartridges at Staples or something. Focus on the important stuff and growing your business first. I think cartridges would not be big for your typical FPN clients.

Thanks for being so responsive though... always a good sign for clients.

Not a problem! We want to be the best, can't do that by being slow!

Good luck!

Thank you very much!

The free shipping applies only to Canada, I assume?

Shipping to the states will be free as well, go ahead, order away, Dalas is free.

Duncan, will you be stocking any TWSBI Micartas in the near future? I look forward to complimenting my ink purchases with a nice pen or two, though I know that that's pretty much unfeasible right now :roflmho:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
