Twsbi Warranty?

I love my TWSBI pens, I own 3 in total (2 540s and 1 Vac). But the other day, one of my TWSBIs seemed to have broke. The piston knob came right out of the body. I found out that the problem must have been a crack that developed somehow (without my knowledge of it since it's pretty hard to see). I don't know really. I'm pretty disappointed by this, but can't find my original boxes that the pens came in, so I don't know if there's a warranty and for how long the warranty lasts and what it covers. I bought this pen less than a year ago. I bought it from TWSBI itself at its eBay store. Anyone have any information on warranty info?

 

 

PS: The reason I'm asking for warranty info and not just chalking this up as a loss is because this was really nothing to do with my own misuses. I hardly used this particular one in fact because I kept it filled with red ink and and an XFIne nib so that I can use it for marking papers, making corrections or notes, etc. Then I was going to expel the ink from the pen the other night and the whole piston thing came out. So this was certainly a manufacturing defect. The other pen is still holding strong (and I hope it stays that way), even though I used it far more often.

I no longer own any fountain pens... Now they own me.

TWSBI does a fantastic job of sending out replacement parts. If you ask, you usually will receive. Contact the company either here, or via ebay, and they will set things right.

I had a barrel and section crack on me around Christmas time, and a simple inquiry email to TWSBI about parts resulted in a new barrel and section in the mail 2 days later. I am very impressed with how they take care of their customers.

The Highlander was a documentary, and the events happened in real time.

Just emailed them last night about a small crack on my 540. The reply? "What is your shipping address? We can send you a replacement barrel!". Plain and simple. Not a +1 on customer service, but a +1*10^100!

You will. I literally just did this for 3 of my TWSBI pens this past week. Phillip answered my email within a day and I had my parts in my hand within three days and ow my pens are fixed and working.

Email them at twsbiinc@gmail.com - they are great at replacing broken/defective pens.

They should be highly proficient at customer service since their pens appear to be so prone to failure. Even a casual review of some of the postings here reveals ongoing and pervasive problems with cracked barrels and sections and poor ink flow on a variety of their models. Why do people like TWSBI pens so much?

I have 4 TWSBIs and only had a problem with one (cracked barrel). It developed a crack days after receiving it and was fixed in a couple of days then put into rotation. I use them everyday and rely on them for jotting down field observations at construction sites. I don't baby them and they take quite a beating. All still look quite new. These pens go where my other pens dare not. I would never take my Visconti or my Nakaya on these visits. The only other pen that works as hard are my Lamys. So one small (cosmetic) crack in almost 2 years...not bad. No?

The TWSBI brand is new. They started making these pens around 2010. However, the pens are designed by FP fans for FP fans. It's their dedication to this community that makes them popular. Moreover, the pen itself is awesome. Not yet having a perfect manufacturing process yet is their only real flaw, and that was already fixed in April. :P

Can anyone verify this? Was TWSBI's issue barrel cracking issue resolved?

And yes, I know it's bourbon.

They have outstanding customer service and stand behind there product better than most for sure.

 

They replaced my section in 3 days of emailing them!

 

I have yet to hear anyone say anything negative about there customer service.

Just out of curiosity, Tony, I'm wondering what kind of red ink you were using. My personal experience has been that certain brands of red inks can be highly acidic. There was one in particular that trashed a couple of my sister's and my pens before we figured out what was going on and stopped using it.

Chesterfield red ink. Or it could've been PR Dakota Red. I don't remember now as I filled it up at least a month or so ago and both those inks see relatively frequent use.

 

Which ink did that to your pens?

I have used ALOT of different inks in my 540 (it is my test pen and I have gone through like 250 samples since I got it lol) I think it is probably just a TWSBI issue. Honestly since their customer care is so good I am not sure it matters. Did you get yours fixed and everything? I mean I assume so but just curious :) .

It was a fairly long time ago, so I'm not 100% sure, and they certainly may have reformulated by now, but I think it was Levenger.

Months ago, my section cracked. Philip sent me a new one. last week, my cap broke and my piston rod came out of the piston. I'm in Canada, and the postage was over $30. But, no questions asked; I just sent along my pictures of what happened with the explanation. Even if they haven't fixed the issue with weak plastic, I would STILL buy another TWSBI, simply because it is a great pen when it works (99% of the time) and when it doesn't, they fix it without hesitation.
