(I must admit that I do pity whoever at - presumably - Goulet Pens had to assemble your order - bet they took the rest of the day off after it. :P )

More praise for the Goulets! I ordered it late on Friday night, and it was in the mail by Monday morning. Excellent customer service over there.

I'm going back and watching through all of their videos including all of the write-times and seeing the evolution of their business over time. It's quite interesting and inspirational. Almost makes me want to quit and open my own business.

still taking "bids" I'll close it on Friday (20th) and I'll mail these out on Monday.

PS someone PM'd me asking why I'm giving these away. Basically, I live in a small NYC apartment and don't want Stuff that I don't use regularly. I have become fairly minimalist since moving here. It was considerable investment, but I think it's worth it to "know" that I got a very good sampling of the inks available and confident that I chose the best ones for me.

That's frigging awesome.

Just to say, I admire your energy and organizational skills. And Generosity.

If I had all those samples, I would wind up needing a quiet room with a full time nurse.

Very nice! I like many of your favorites.

La Colour Royale and Bilberry look very close.

I am surprised that I like Noodlers Purple more than the Bay State Concord Grape.

Can you compare DC Super Violet to Purple Mojo?

Your ideal reviewers would be people like dcpritch, Sandy1, dizzypen, etc, but if none of them are interested or anything, I'm pretty sure I could finish 75-80 by the end of the year, with a comparison chart as well.

That's an impressive set of samples, hope it helped you decide on some inks!

I'm too lazy to participate, but this could be a rolling thing: "I'm done, who gets these next?"

Bad news, comments about generosity should be retracted. A domestic dispute is preventing me from just giving away a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff. Apparently that's something that should be discussed! There is a plan to put up some reviews. I just hesitate to do that since I'm still not exactly sure how to sense some of the parameters that are talked about. I mean I can feel the difference in flow between a Noodlers Eel and a J Herbin Poussiere de Lune, but I can't really feel anything in between.

Anyway, I can only do my best..

If you're still a member here, for the sake of all who've shown interest in this thread, please consider posting your winner. I'm subscribing to this old thread and anxiously awaiting your response. :D

Relax people, Shawn will come out with reviews soon, as soon as he cleans his pen 200 times. :) We can expect them eventually, but it might be a bit of a wait sadly

Hi All,
I just realized I lost track of this thread. I guess after I found the pens and inks that I liked, my interest waned and I stopped reading about all this stuff (as tends to happen with my serial hobby-ing)
In the end, my favorites were Iroshizuku YamaBudo and Tsuya-Kusa. They look and feel good and never have any issues cleaning them from any pen. I keep a Noodler Polar blue in a cheap pen around for check signing. Other than that, I purchased a few more inks than I probably needed...
I still have all these samples in a box and am ready to send them to someone to write reviews. Someone contacted me before about this, but I lost the contact info. I’m quoting the previous information to do this again with a new date. Say Dec 31, 2014. Only a 2 year delay..

I want to give away all of these samples. They are all just barely used. For payment, I want a promise to post a certain number of reviews to the Ink Review forum by the end of the year. I think there are people better suited to this than me and who have more energy, by far.

So please reply with bids of how many reviews you promise to post by Dec 31, 2012. I'll decide based on the number of reviews you promise as well as the quantity/quality of reviews you have already posted.

I am still new to this community so please let me know if this is inappropriate or should be moved to a different forum.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
