Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The part you can read is written slower than the part you can't read, but not crazy slower. There is an in-between speed of half-printing/writing that is more readable but still not what I would give to anyone else. The least readable is reserved to trying to take notes during a lecture or some real-time event I can't pause.

Both are legible, the bottom one is the nice cursive I associate with your letters.

Yes, whenever he gets a bit wistful, I let him use my Pilot Justus, and that cheers him right up:

That happy faced bear has a rather insincere grin - like he's getting ready to sting you with some sarcastic barb.

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

Ha ha. I just think his bee outfit is a bit snug, that's all.

Spent the past couple of months playing with copperplate and realising that Apache Sunset looks best with an italic nib. Forgive the hand...

I am not really big on demonstrator pens, but this TWSBI just looks so nice with that ink in it. And that shading :notworthy1:

That is a gorgeous vintage jade pen! And the ink matches it perfectly. I think maybe we should just starting calling the "salad green" Sheaffers avocados...

Too bad showing off ink doesn't really work with a cellphone cam under fluorescent light...

The pens in the picture:

Jinhao X750 at the bottom

Hero 382, 6081 & 529 in the pen pocket of my Greenroom136 Scribblebook Journal notebook cover.

All together that's a whopping... ehm... $17 worth of pens...

... Never underestimate the power of human stupidity ...

Oops... for some reason, this came out b/w. Darned scanner! The ink is not black, it's Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
