It goes like this... A package arrives with this box inside...

http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc383/edulpj/Parker%2045%20Arrow/SAM_2818_zpsc1ed1afc.jpg

You open the box and the first image takes some of your breath...

http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc383/edulpj/Parker%2045%20Arrow/SAM_2819_zpsc323ba20.jpg

Well... There are a little fabric tab written: LIFT...

http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc383/edulpj/Parker%2045%20Arrow/SAM_2820_zpsd99c23a3.jpg

The instruction leaflet unfolded, throw you in a time machine travel...

http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc383/edulpj/Parker%2045%20Arrow/SAM_2821_zpscb9dda85.jpg

After a pause for washing, the pen dismantled...

http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc383/edulpj/Parker%2045%20Arrow/SAM_2822_zps8056cb4d.jpg

The pen was filled with a dryed out cartridge. Into the cartridges box (five cartridges?!?), four cartridges and one converter... That pen was sold with the converter installed, but the owner tried it with the cartridge. Maybe few days using the pen and - happily for me - he gave up... Maybe this is that kind of thing they call ALMOST MINT ;)

I have now four P45's... A simple one (chrome cap + burgundy body/shell), a Flighter GT, an Insignia and now an Arrow...

Eduardo, great pen and great story, thanks for sharing the photos of its unpacking. I'd love to see a picture of how it writes, too.

DRWWE, beautiful MB, very elegant.

Ptero, I love those vintage Pelikans, and you have a pair of beauties there.

Lately (00photo's recent exhibition to the contrary notwithstanding) I've begun thinking that vintage Waterman's nibs are among the very best ever made. I know this is entirely subjective, and arguments can easily be made for other makers (vintage Montblancs and Pelikans are definitely in the group), but 90-100 year old Waterman's nibs are a cut above at least their American peers, I think.

Here's a Waterman's 55:

Shown with a BCHR 52 and a jet black celluloid 54:

And the nibs for these three pens, to show the size difference:

Nice David :)

That's another ink on the "Inks to buy - mostly thanks to dcpritch's posts" :headsmack:

I only have one "vintage" Waterman, a 515 with a 14ct No 5 nib.

It's nowhere near as flexible as your gorgeous 55 David but it's an absolute joy to use and happily married to Organics Studio Blue Merle.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a decent Waterman at the Cambridge Pen Show on the 9th.

Wow, great pens, great inks and GREAT PHOTOS!

The #15 is named George, and his cap is a partial silver overlay from another pen. The new cap made George look very snazzy, don't ya know, yah?

My buddy at work got this on his desk today.

...I had to write something with my new FP, and it's not going to be love letters.

dgreenwood116: Thanks!

dcpritch: I agree about Waterman nibs. I have several and they are all amazing in their own unique way. Still can't put this #14 down.

I was stuck in the rain and the traffic the other day when this rather sad spot on the North Circular Road appeared to my left.

I took a photograph knowing I'd want to sketch the scene and in some way record the feeling of misery and abandonment of this tragic memorial.

My thoughts and prayers go to whomever the flowers were for.

The usual suspects - Visconti Homo Sapiens EF nib filled with 3 parts R&K Sepia, 1 part Diamine Grey, 1 part Noodlers Black.

I've been a Moleskine kind of gal for the longest time, but I thought I'd try something new for a change so I got a few of these Leuchttum1917 notebooks (medium sized, plain paper). And since I tried something new, I also went with a new color so this one is a beautiful brown one. And hey why stop there, so I inked up my Platinum Cool (medium nib) with some Diamine Chocolate Brown. It's early days still, but thus far I'm really enjoying the new notebook, the paper quality and the ink. Enjoying the Platinum Cool goes without saying but I'll say it anyway :P It's a good Sunday to be writing down thoughts.

Pens for work:

  1. Parker Sonnet with the factory steel medium italic nib : Diamine Registrar's Ink
  2. Pilot Capless (aka Vanishing Point) with a Richard Binder italic nib : Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa
  3. Pilot Falcon Soft-Fine : J Herbin Café des Îles
  4. Duke Porcelain : Diamine Majestic Blue

Apologies for the smear: that Binder nib is really wet.

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

Ooo what a gorgeous image. Makes me want to stop working, brew a coffee and sit by the window with a pen and a pad . . .

Thank you.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
