Amberlea, if I doodled like that while on the phone I'd forget completely what I was supposed to be doing. Which reminds me that my wife often tells me I should never attempt to multitask, a skill reserved for higher beings (women, that is).

Thanks for the very nice remarks about pen and ink. I long for the talent of Attika so I could actually DO something (besides writing) with these instruments.

Today's pairing (sounds oddly like a lead-in from Food & Wine, doesn't it?):

This Akkerman Shocking Blue has the most amazing shading and sheen, inexpertly captured here:

Wow, that's a stunning ink David. Will have to peck your brains for recommendations when I've got some spare cash ;)

Cheers,

Joe

David - Your pen and ink pairings are just as exciting as what to eat and drink together. It is cloudy today if that makes up for the previous weather report... :)

The design of this pen reminds me of French automobile makes such as Talbot-Lago, and Delahaye. Gorgeous lines!!!

Thanks DR! And Petro - wow. I can see the problem with the weapons.

Here was the doodle from the other day at court while Bozo was contemplating how noses and smiles work together.

Frosty's neighbor, Frisky, uses giant fountain pens to clear the snow drifts.

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

Complete... Or not... That Eversharp ballpoint, was one of the very first ballpoints... That set was designed to be a gift for a graduate boy. BP + MP + tieholder and cufflinks to wear in prom... Good times...

Wow, your handwriting is so beautiful. You have a very definite style and your pens compliment your writing very well!

I'm getting a similar nib soon (from Mr Mottishaw), so your post has me all excited :D

These posts are always inspirational and occasionally expensive.

@OOPhoto I never knew Diamine Florida Blue was so pretty, but I think it's your penmanship. WOW.

@Uncle Red - Good Point.

And dang, sorry you are all having crummy weather. It was 73 last night at 8 pm. You can remind me when it's 115 out here why you don't enjoy stuff melting, but right now, I'm enjoying the beautiful weather.

00Photo, that's stunning handwriting! Binder should use you in an ad. The writing looks like the lines in the pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
