How does the nib compare to the 530 and 540?

Exactly what I was going to write, plus what do you think of the plunger vs the twist?

It only seems to fill about half the barrel. If you try a second attempt with liquid in the barrel it doesn't fill as full as the first fill. I'm guessing the special ink bottle/adapter will be required to fill the entire barrel.

Here's a shot of the nibs:

Cool! Mine should be here Monday or Tuesday.

Have you tried the trick which works somewhat with the Visconti plungers, where you fill, flip, pull, flip, refill?

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

looking forward to getting mine. However, I don't count on it within the next week. I have not received any shipping information. Did any of you get shipping confirmations?

Guess I will have to drool over them at the pen show next weekend.

I have not tried that. I'll have to give it a go and see what happens.

If you log into your account at twsbi.com you can view the tracking number. Also, if we happen to run into each other at the show I'd be more than happy to show you mine.

I was able to get 3/4 of the barrel filled with that trick. Thank you.

:headsmack: I have been so spoiled with getting constant e-mails from vendors and PayPal I didn't even think to log in to my TWSBI account. :headsmack:

Excellent!! It should be in my local post office on Monday. So I will have it by Wednesday. (post office seldom leaves packages when we aren't at home, so I have to go to post office with a stack of forms once a week or so to pick up stuff).

Yes, it posts just fine. Capped, the 700 is about 1/4" longer than the 540. Posted, it's actually shorter than the 540. With no cap attached the 700 is like 1-2mm longer.

received mine this morning but don't really have time to play with it yet.

TWSBI Vac 700 looks really nice.

And I think that got better balance than 530/540 when it posted.

one thing bothers me is that anodized finished clip looks like from the other pen....

Then I'll be ordering one as soon as they're on Gouletpens!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
