St. Patty's day is just around the corner and its time to show a little green!

Here are my green American pens - Estie J, Salz, Sheaffer OS, Wahl Eversharp Equi-Poised, Wahl Oxford, Eversharp Skyline, No-name, Conklin Endura Symetrik:

A couple of English pens, a Strand and an Onoto 5123:

And then a handful of green German pens - two Kaweco Sports (the first one is really clear, not green, but it has green highlighter ink in it so I think that qualifies) and three Pelikans (M1000, 140, 100N):

The No-name has, of course, no markings whatsoever. The nib, which I'm not convinced is original, says "Welsh Mfg. Co. / Stainless / Providence / R.I." Both ends of the pen have intricate milling with nine fluted grooves, as shown on the photo below. If you have an idea as to its maker I'd love to know. But its a great looking pen, no matter who made it.

The ink in the clear Kaweco Sport above is Noodler's St. Patty's Eire, nicely reviewed here by Paperskater.

Your Gold Seal is gorgeous, as is the Edison! What is the name of the urushi finish and color on your Edison?

OS Doric, actually. Only attractive 'cause I've managed not to show the crazing in the photo :-)

Finish on the Edison is "Midori Ishime no Kuro Tamenuri".

What a great looking bunch of awesome pens! I could comment on each, but I think the one that caught my eye and held it the longest is the Waterman 92V, the one missing its clip. Fantastic celluloid, and I love its cap band - I don't think I've seen that before.

Thanks for sharing!

I just happened to have all of my green pens out because that is the theme for the Seattle Pen Club meeting next weekend. So it was pretty easy to throw them all into an empty drawer and shoot them. It was pure coincidence that the number of green pens exactly equaled the number of slots in the drawer.

The pens are:

1. Waterman Carene Sea Green Shimmer

2. Danitrio Tosca Green Ripple Hard Rubber

3. Waterman Phileas

4. Wing Sung G612

5. Taccia/Swisher Premier Mint Stripe

6. Pelikan M400

7. Sheaffer Balance Marine Green

8. Sheaffer Imperial Pencil

9. Sheaffer Imperial "Dolphin" 1000

10. Sheaffer Targa Matte Green Prototype

11. Sheaffer Targa model 1186, Mottled Green

12. Sheaffer Targa model 1183, Color Palette Emerald Green Swirl

13. Sheaffer Targa model 1086 ballpoint, Green Moiré

14. Sheaffer Targa model 1086, Green Moiré

15. Sheaffer Targa model 1081 ballpoint, Malachite Ronce

16. Sheaffer Targa model 1081, Malachite Ronce

17. Sheaffer Targa model 1059 ballpoint, Gloss Green

18. Sheaffer Targa model 1059, Gloss Green

19. Sheaffer Slim Targa model 1039S, Jade Green

20. Sheaffer Slim Targa model 1038S, Green Ronce

Thanks dcpritch. I don't know what the official Waterman name for the pattern is. 92's and 92V's in this color, plus silver and gold 'snakeskin' versions, come up reasonably frequently. They are definitely less common than the 'normal US' colors. I believe that most, but not all of pens found in these pattern were made in Canada (maybe in England too?)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
