Pendleton's Latest Ink Mix ~ "blakwa"

Recommended Posts

I kinda think of it as a fling between fun and sophistication.

First one to guess the 2 specific inks in the mix wins a free sample happyberet.gif ... if you want one ... rolleyes.gif

Hint: rhymes with "aqua"

Wow! I don't have any idea, but I do like it. I will guess Waterman Green plus Waterman Black.

But I also guess that I am wrong :)

God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I am so far behind, I will never die.

It's quite iron-gall looking, but I like it. It's a nice shade of black (or aqua, whatever).

Don't care that much about the colors, but I do like that nib! Just let me have the nib.

Thanks for the tee-hees.

Someone has a very close guess. No iron-g in this ink. It is a bit dense; I may tone it down a bit.

I checked with high authority re. the mix; my dear friend & mentor: Sir Richard Binder. You do realize the man is a walking encyclopedia right?

BTW, incase you have yet to try Richard's new ink, Gate City EverFlo it is brilliantly concocted to do all the right things; even some fine tunings have been made to give it the most desirable qualities an ink should have.

The True Blue is about as beautifull as blue can get.

Non-disclaimer: I am unabashedly biased in favor of all Sir Richard does and says; proud to be his friend. happyberet.gif

Waterman South Seas Blue and Waterman Black? :happyberet:

Bingo! YOU ROCK Doc!

The cool thing is that just yesterday I wrote you a snail I have yet to mail ... want a sample of this along with it?

The recipe is:

5 parts Waterman South Seas Blue

4 parts Waterman Black.

I think I am going to try adding a few drops of water; just enough to scare off a little of the density.

Non- Disclaimer: I got them both of these inks from Bert at Bertram's Inkwell. Another wonderful Pen & ink dealer and producer of the Philadelphia, Miami, Baltimore and San Francisco Pen Shows. Also a friend. happyberet.gif

A lucky guess on my part. :eureka:

Yes, I'd love a sample. But I owe you four letters already so maybe you should hold it for ransom until I get off my butt and reply once or twice.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
