Confirmed 2012 Lamy safari colour:

GREEN!!!

I love it. Very nice colour, at least on the photo

It looks like the nib is also a little bit darker. What do you think? Maybe a matte finish?

Excellent, my hunt for a reasonably priced Lime Green one may be put on permanent hold.

That nib does look more like a gunmetal grey than the standard steel, half way between the steel and the black finishes. We can but hope :)

I saw that fleabay has the lime for a horrendous price ($199) ... Surely, they're not that pricey???

Aye, those are the only ones I see popping up from Thailand / Singapore at those prices - too rich for me considering the other pens we can get for those costs.

Yes, that's promising enough for me to pencil it in for May or whenever it hits the US. I think the new color is usually at the Raleigh pen show so that timeline sounds about right.

I procrastinated on the Safari Lime Green, not this time around for sure. Looking forward to it!

I wonder how it looks next a lime green Safari.

I pulled out my (not $199) lime green Safari. The lime green one has a lot more yellow. Actually, the apple green looks nicer.

Thank you for checking that for me! I have a lime green Safari and I figured it would have more yellow, but color doesn't always show true on my monitor.

That's a terrible price for a Safar! I really enjoy mine, but I'd never pay the current fleabay price for one! Of course, my pockets are very deep anyway. LOL

I did the same thing with the TWSBI 540 in blue and with my luck (Murphy resides with me lately), when it becomes available again, I won't be able to order one.

Is there a limited Al-Star each year as well?

I am not 100% on this, but I think with the aluminum model they do tend to release a new color each year but they don't necessarily discontinue it at the end of the year. I'm not certain they are released at the same time as the Safari, either.

It's usually in the fall, but I have word that there will not be a limited edition Al-Star this year.

There are other things in the works this year but I'm sworn to secrecy for now!

I could be just the lighting, though the colour of that nib looks about right for ruthenium (as opposed to rhodium) plating.

Just curious here or did I miss something? Isn't the Ruby Red by Wolfgang Fabian a Limted Edition AL-Star Safari for 2012 or are we talking for 2013? Also, could it be the Lamy 2000 "makeover"? Just wondering that's all. . .

The Ruby Red Al-Star came out in fall of 2011....

The Lamy 2000 in stainless steel is coming in July-ish.... I was referring to other things ;)

I don't think it had ever occurred to me before that you probably know (at times) a lot more about what is coming down the road than we do. I can imagine how fun that can be but at the same time how frustrating it is when you'd love to share but cannot because your rep would be irritated and not tell you (or worse like you'd be dropped as a retailer). What agony...what ecstasy.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
