While trying for the first time to upload a picture of a pen I can't identify, I choose the file, it shows up, but the program won't let me attach it. Suggestions??

Hi, Same here....only the last couple of days though. Neither method works, "Upload" from the top bar, nor "Browse" & "Attach" from the "Add reply" editor box. I had done a registry clean on my Windows 7 PC, and thought I had done some damage. I only upload optimised photos, for colours and size, 700 pixels wide.

I had a problem yesterday with mine - it said Error IO.

I reinstalled Adobe Flash and I can upload again.

I don't know why that happened - it's the second time - but a reinstall fixes it.

Hope that can help.

Hmmm.. might be same problem here, which I had given up and then I was using Flickr.

I'll try later to see if it works.

Hi I was trying to post photos for an ink comparison that I was working on, and after 3 photos (regardless of the mix of pictures) I got an error message for each additional one that I tried posting. All photos are sized properly and the total is well below the maximum limit for each post. This is the first time I get this kind of error message and wanted to check if there have been any changes to the system or if there is anything I can do differently. Thank you!

Hi Icywolfe, Thank you for your reply! I just tried uploading a screen shot to this thread and I got the same error message: right above where it says "Attach Files" I get a red shaded box in which the following message is written " Error This upload failed."

I've been here for about 3 years and have about 300 posts. I have uploaded dozens of images in that time with no trouble but starting some weeks ago I can't. The error message looks like this

You can upload up to Uploading is not allowed of files (Max. single file size: 100MB)

Today's file was under 300k and all the others were legal as well. I am running Linux so I do not have any of the Windows programs cited as causing trouble. Any ideas?

It's possibly to do with the format, or maybe the file isn't rgb or in some other unrecognised format. What file format are you using? (eg gif, png, jpg etc)

All have been jpegs - both the ones that worked and the ones that did not. The latest ones were from the same computer/scanner/software I have used for nearly all my past posts. I can open the files locally -- they are not corrupt. Other recent files I tried were from other sources so I thought the problem was the files but these are the very kind that used to work!-) They are also scans of a page on looseleaf filler paper with various colors of ink on it, like most of the images I have posted.

BTW the latest upload that worked that I could find was about three months ago if that's a clue.

Just curious, but here are some random ideas:

---convert it to a png using mtpaint or other app and then try again

---create a blank jpg image and then try to upload that.

Converting to png made it much larger but still well under the claimed limit -- and still rejected by FPN with the same error message.

have to say I've not experienced any problems, but then I've only been uploading for a matter of months. Being an oldie I don't always know what the acronyms stand for, but mine are jpg format, edited in Picasa and then resized with IrfanView down to 1000 for the longest dimension.

My sympathies for those of you having problems - hope they get sorted soon.

In order to see pictures viewed on the Internet the longest side really should be resized down to 800 pixels, or about 8 or 9 cm, then you should Upload it onto FPN by using the Upload tab in the top bar..

Attachments on FPN are quite restricted. so as soon as you reach your limit, which isn't that big, you can't add any more attachments until you delete some.

So although the Upload tab uploads a permanent image that can't be edited or deleted, at least you can upload without running out of space. :)

Read all about the Upload tab under Manuals

Why I use links to photobucket. I got tired of fighting it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
