  1. 1. Do you like the Scription Chronodex Weekly Planner idea?

Hi Patrick,

My prayers thoughts are with yours for your Dad and Mum. My grandmother had Parkinsons. I treasure that final look of recognition in her eyes the last time I saw her, before she passed away.

I love the Chronodex idea and would love to give it a go. My thinking is currently very linear and it looks like a great way to tickle my dormant creative side. I was wondering if you could create an A5 format (when you find the time, and if you wish to). I do like the portrait version shown above. I would use it with my Atoma disc binder.

I'm going to start full-time uni next year and I think this will be a great way to keep track of time and assignments.

Thanks for a great idea!

[edited to correct disc binder name]

Thanks a lot NOS. It is not difficult to accept the fact that life will end some time soon, seeing how a person suffer is a totally different thing.

I'm gonna post Cororado's version so that you can download to try.

I do think A5 is a very good size to exploit the radial aspect of the Chronodex, it seems to have more room to allow a portrait version which is more natural to most people IMHO. What do you think?

BTW, working at retail, Xmas is the busiest time of the year and I doubt I could make it, but I'll try.

+1 for the portrait in half letter size, I don't have a Midori so I'll be resorting to the Arc system as well.

Coronado, I like the change you made with the dot grid.

Patrickng, my thoughts are with you and yours.

Also I hope you plan to continue to offer the chronodex every 6 months, it's a winner!

Glad to see it on the blog Patrick! I hope people like the Arc hack.. Also, thanks for posting this to the Flikr. And to whoever was asking about it before, you can use the same pics I posted here, I never got around to making more.

Hey there Patrick.

Maybe the changes you have in mind for the Chronodex can be introduced with the July-Dec book? I think fans of the Chronodex have already printed it and using it.

Definitely js!

Gathering people's method of notation on Chronodex, please share your experience: http://scription.typepad.com/blog/2011/12/how-do-you-use-chronodex-please-share.html

Here's how Kate (from Studio-Sweepings: http://www.studio-sweepings.blogspot.com/2011/12/chronodex.html) uses Chronodex. She printed on stickers and use only what's needed....

I think this method will work better for me.

This is a lovely design. I was hoping I could get it on small sized Midori

traveller notebooks. I could always screencap it too, but I wonder how I

am going to print it onto the pages!! Man, if this layout really takes off

like the Muji notebook, it'd be lovely...

My OfficeMax work notebook has cheap thin paper so I just trace the Chronodex dials as needed for each day.

This is brilliant!

Thank you so much! I have just ordered my midori TN and now can't wait for it to be delivered! Seeing the prices of Midori's calendars I was a little shocked *LOL

So your calendar comes in very handy and I will put it in use. I am curious as to how I like them seeing how different from the ordinary system they are. But I have to admit, that from the visual point of view your calendar is wonderful.

Thank you ever so much for sharing!

Thanks Nicolas, I think a rubber stamp would solve your problem. TN passport size is kind of small though, the current Chronodex size is too big for it. I'm exploring proper Chronodex size.

This happens again and again, I think more people need a rubber stamp for the flexibility. Working on it Bogon!

Thanks so much Nicole, can't wait to see your interpretation :)

Such a fun project! Oh you will love the Midori TN, I can't stop customizing it: Customized traveler's notebook refill covers, a new inspiration book

I think this is a great idea. My prayers are with your family.

I opted to go for something similar to Kate, since I have a cute notebook that I didn't know what to use for. However, I'm more persnickety (to put it mildly), so I edited the Chronodex circle so I could cut it all pretty:

My notebook is about 5"x7" and I find that 2" circles work best to fit two to a page. I made a little sheet in so I can fit 15 circles to each page. For important dates, I'll print out bigger circles so they'll pop out more, since I tend to forget birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Patrick, I think this is a wonderful contribution to the world. Thank you and prayers are with your family.

After a couple of failed attempts on bad paper and printing the wrong other side, I have a good version on 120gsm laserjet paper in my Midori TN now! First step in finishing my remaining moleskines and moving over to the TN.

I find the design interesting and elegant but not unique. While I have no links to share with you, I've seen circulat daily planners in many formats.

My personal experience with planners and calendars points me to simplicity and immediate recognition. Perhaps with habitual use, the circle's day's density is discernible I don't see practical advantages over conventional, perhaps boring, linear time assignment systems.

I'll be watching the thread for several weeks to see how real world usage shakes out.

ONe of your site's visitors suggested a rubber stamp. That's a great idea. Has a level of funkiness that is lost in printing off rigidly formatted sheets.

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

Thanks Velazquez. Do you print the Chronodex core onto circular stickers? I don't quite get it how you are using it, e.g. 15 circles to each page. I am guessing you would cut the cores out one by one? Do share some of your usage photos here or on the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/chronodex.

Thanks

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
