Wow, 25 new inks. Those should go in my booklet part 11

But did I do my math correctly that it will cost > 500€ plus shipping :crybaby:

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Cheers

Thank you so much for this. I now have modified the ones I'm going to get (good-bye Dandyism, which looks more black than green, and hello Azure Ocean!). I'll be putting in an order next week. :)

So...to order did you just send an email in English?

Also...how big are the bottles...I am a sucker for a nice bottle, especially when it comes with some wonderful ink in it too!

This Dandyism ink looks like a pretty close cousin of MB Racing Green. I put some in a Noodler's flex pen. It is dark, but it catches your attention with the dark olive green.

I order these through Tenso.com, and these are the same 50ml size bottles that the Hougado store used.

Greetings all,

Ahh, boy... more inks... more temptations...

At 2,100 yen, these break down to $27.37 per bottle not including shipping, (or the Tenso registration fees if you have to go that route). So, I have to ask- are they worth it?

What are your impressions of the "Penman Sapphire," Sam? How is the color (live and in person) and how is the flow and lubrication? Will I have to any "doctoring" to get that Cadillac glide I love?

All the best,

Sean :)

I know ... I'm "slow" ... LOL ... but I don't understand about Tenso.com. Do we register and then .... are these inks listed there or what would we do if we wanted a few bottles??

Hello USMCMom, et al,

I believe you have to register and pay a fee.

I'm wondering if it is possible to purchase these directly from Bung Box, (with Google's translation software), it shouldn't be too difficult??? (If they're set-up to accept major credit cards from overseas customers).

SAM!! This is all your fault! I hope you're satisfied!

All the best,

Sean

No, Tenso is a buying/forwarding service. There are many companies in Japan that do not ship outside of Japan. So you set up your account with Tenso, then give them individual URL's and description/price of items you want them to buy for you. Once Tenso receives it in your name, then they ship it to you as a second transaction. There can be limits, as Tenso could not handle the recent Sepia ink I got in that other thread because Hakase (Sepia) was not setup with their own web store online operation.

Sean, are they worth it? "Are they worth it?" That is like asking Yoda: "Is the Force worth it"? On the path of the "Luminescent Chromaticity of Inkly Enlightenment," is one butterfly worth it?

I have found that Sailor inks are among the highest quality brand.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
