Here's six of our resident ingrates (out of ten) relaxing on our deck (since that picture was taken, we found homes for five of them, so we're now down to five ingrates):

That's a wonderful kitty pile. No matter how many times I count, I can only find five!

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

Have to post pics of my babies:

Brianne, who we lost about a month ago, at age 17. I miss her so much!

Emma :) She's been with me since she was 9 weeks old.

Miss Bailey, who joined the family just recently (still trying to get a great pic of her - she rarely holds still) :)

Gryff as a kitten, irritating the heck out of Fluffy (who is probably a Norwegian Forest Cat):

And then Gryff enjoying the snow six months later (actually 2 years ago next month):

Gryff has grown a bit. He now registers 20lb (9kg) on our bathroom scales and he still has to put on most of his Maine Coon muscle.

Regards,

Richard.

I've circled the heads... The two on the right, Cho Cho and Missy, are our love-starved cats. I did a lot of work painting in September and October and they seem to find me wherever I am with a paint brush in my hand and demand attention -- and thus wind up with paint on them (Cho Cho is the black one and she is especially notorious for this). Cho Cho will even climb up the ladder, then proceed to climb up the legs inside my shorts. Needless to say, this can bring painting to a halt. I've had to patiently pick her up and drop her off the ladder (only a few steps) up to 7 or 8 times before she gets the hint and goes bothers someone else. The amazing thing is that when my wife and I sit down for a rest in our covered swing, Cho Cho's two sisters come running and jump into our laps, but Cho Cho won't come near me, probably because I don't have a paint brush in my hand.

Their older brother, Buddy from a previous litter, looks just like Missy. I have some absolutely great videos of him loving on our pet duck. He'd grab the duck around the neck and then roll upside down, wanting to be loved. The duck just took it. It's hilarious and some day I'll get this posted on youtube.

I love this thread. Here are our feline family members: Slinky, Jellybean, Cupcake (she's also my avatar photo here), and the crabby one is Pickles, who went to the Great Catnip Patch in the Sky last year at the ripe old age of 19.

All great pictures, here is my daughters Bengal, Simba.

I had just told him one of my dog/cat jokes.

(he is now lacking some parts pictured)

In my picture above of the cats with circled heads, the one behind the black one is named Missy and she looks nearly identical to her older brother Buddy, the male cat interested in duck love. My wife and I laughed today, because out on our back yard today Missy was chasing the duck (our ducks and chickens wander throughout the backyard because it's a fenced in half acre) and trying to rub up against her, exactly the same as her brother does. Genetics at work...

Thank you! It was the black kitty I was missing--I mistook a kitty for a fabric item. Um, I was tired?

Just a few of our past cats. Sadly we don't have any now. Lucy was the only cat we had that would beg for food. Tiger was a "works" kitten from a local steelworks. Unfortunately, one day he went off and never returned. Tilly was born with a spastic left ear and couldn't close her eyes properly but it didn't prevent her lasting 17 years with us. We miss them all!

Diedre: if you're still reading this thread, I'm the guy you sent that pink fountain pen with jewels to a few years ago and it was given to my daughter for Christmas. She absolutely, totally loved that pen above all others and probably used it for about a year. Then one day she came to me and said it was leaking badly. Alas, when I took it apart, there was a broken part inside and I knew it would take a lot of time/effort to find a replacement (and I often can make replacement parts for things, but this was too complicated).

So, anyway, I wanted you to know that the pen got a lot of use in her journals and was greatly appreciated!

Rumpole is a beaut!

Thanks! I just wish he could be a little bit nicer to other people sometimes... He's something of an "attack cat".

Bump* had to be put to sleep today. Seems he had an aggressive cancer.

I am so sorry, Atrata. I've lost several cats to cancer. Losing a cat to anything is heartbreaking. And Rumpole was/is a beauty. I like to think that he's hanging out with all of the pet friends we've had to say goodbye to.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
