Sheaffer Targa Slim - Cartridges? Piston Fillers?

seegod1

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I'm just enjoying my "new" NOS Slim Targa pen. Although it did come with the piston filler, I'm wondering, do standard "european" cartridges (you know, those little ones that are less than two inches long and are usually capped with a little plastic ball that we used to collect when were kids... ) work in that pen?

And if not, does anyone know where I could buy some more similar "piston filler" cartridges that would fit? The reason I ask is because I use several ink colours and don't want to corrupt, among others, my blue ink, which is erasable, by having different colours in the same filler...

THANKS!

Carmen

No, the international cartridges will not fit.

yes, they do, but it's far from being the best option.

Sheaffer was supplying unmarked Monteverde mini converters as replacements for the slim converters before the service center closed. That means that you can buy some of the marked ones from Yafa. They do work, though the nipple on the converter may split after a while. But they are about the only option. If you find the slim cartridges, hang onto them and refill with a syringe.

Waterman's short cartridges fit my Slim Targa, but sit on the nippe slightly loosely. No leakage, but that may change over time as I plan to reuse the carts..

I bought a couple of the Monteverdi mini converters, but at first look they didn't seem to fit. I'll give them a try between fills and see what I find.

I remember this subject came up a short while ago. Perhaps the following link will give you more information.

It works quite well. I recommend using a #41 drill to open up the hole on the end of the syringe though (or a #42 maybe) to make sure it isn't too tight on the piercing tube. I would expect it to last longer as the wall thickness at the opening on the syringe is much thicker than the nipple on the mini converter.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
