How to post pictures on FPN

Seems like I answer a lot of my own questions...

I figured it out, the link "click to view full image" only works when the picture is attached using the FPN attachment function when posting.

The link will NOT work (open new window with home page) if the picture is hosted on another server.

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

I think it's time to give up!

Don't give up. Once the picture is on your computer and the correct size, use the upload tab. To copy it into a post, use the BBCode. Copy it and paste it into the reply window.

I tried to post a pic from Flickr on the photography forum in nibs. No matter what I do, it doesn't work, though the link to Flickr shows up and you can click on it and go there to view the image. I read the lengthy instructions from an earlier poster to get a jpg extension on a Flickr pic, but those instructions don't seem to work anymore. When I go to the "all sizes" page and select Medium there's a note at the bottom about getting the URL. Apparently you can only do this from the "share" menu which does not include the jpg extension.

Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I'm working from an iPad and I can't upload images directly from my iPad.

Thanks,

Susan

I can't stop buying pens and it scares me.

Dear Experts;

Might you have 'tips' of the trade in photographing shinny chrome/metalic objects (like fountain pens), as not to blind someone when they look at the photo?

I'm not a professional and use a Kodak digital camera (automatic for camera challenged folks like me <img src="https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/roflmho.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflmho:" border="0" alt="roflmho.gif" /> ).

And, how do you wonderful camera experts get the fountain pen clip photographs so darn clear! I tried photographing my oldies and it came out a blurr.

I am enjoying other's works very much indeed-- all professional like indeed!

Respectfully,

Maria

I Maria,

you need to have a good camera for Good Photograpgh and you should know focal length and limitation of your camera

Take a Good camera and Lens inverter and you can take great Pics of anythingh you want or you need to Buy a micro extension tube/ Micro lense to take good Pictures

I keep getting this message: You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board.

What does this mean? I've tried to understand the O.P. with the two ways of uploaded a picture. The FPN approach is way over my head. The other one, the url thing from a site like Flikr I get and I have one. But when I use the grab link function on Flikr and then put it into the little box that comes up with I choose "Insert Image" get this message I've already noted. This does not seem very user friendly.

I don't know if flickr and Photobucket are similar (I'm in Photobucket).

I used the IMG code. Copied it from my Photobucket picture, then pasted it into my FPN post and it worked (see above).

Best of luck.

The first bit didn't work, and there is a lot of doubling up of code.

Just using the actual picture url:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8512/8544965136_d6bc2cbcfd.jpg

with image tags, like this:

[img=http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8512/8544965136_d6bc2cbcfd.jpg]

works. See below:

We would prefer you to use Upload, actually (Upload Tab). You can also upload a url :). That way the image is hosted here and you don;t have to worry about deleting your images from Flickr.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
