Wim,

I've loved all of your superb, thorough, reviews--and especially this one of special significance. Thanks for once again for doing all of this work for us and being willing to clean all of those pens to get the job done.

(When I do an ink review I can't think of nearly as much to say!)

Thanks, also, for posting a picture of the finalized label in the Marketplace.

Best, Ann

Hi Ann,

Thank you very much for your too kind words. Now you've done it    :D.

Posting the label was a pleasure. We haven't heard back from Nathan yet, though. just hoping he will accept it as it stands...

Warm regards, Wim

Hi M.,

What a marvellous review, thanks for all the time and effort you put in it!  I really like the heavy cream paper you used.
Thank you!
And now, I'll just keep looking at the photos and reading the review until my own bottle of ink arrives!
Yes, so am I now, only extremely little left, 3 pens with just a feed full...

Warm regards, Wim

Yep, it was worth the wait :)  Thanks Wim.

Thank you Stylo!

And yes, it did take a little long . I guess it is clear now, why...

I'm in awe of the number of pens you've tried this ink in. This is the FPN Galileo Manuscript Brown of ink reviews.  ;) Thanks!

Wim, you've done some outstanding reviews in the past, but this one surpasses them all.  I'm pleased to see such a good report on our own ink, and am in the process of ordering a bottle (after this review I might have to up it to 2).  THANKS!

Hi Southpaw,

Umm, well, thank you!  . Actually, it is a great ink. The comparison I made with the other browns really made me realize how lucky we are with Nathan Tardiff, who is a real ink genius, and in particular, this ink.

Wim,

An exhaustive (but not exhausting :D) review -- you've really outdone yourself! This first of what I hope will be many FPN inks seems to meet and exceed all expectations. Can't wait to get my bottle and try it myself.

As for the label -- is there a picture posted anywhere? Offhand, I don't see it. Or are we waiting on the nod from Nathan?

Wow... I'm really looking forward to this now.

Unrelated question - where do you find the "Elco Verge" paper?  That's a very nice cream - at least from the scans....

Hi Cothomps,

I am glad you are! :D

Elco Vergé is a Swiss made paper, and it is available here in any good office stationery store. It is available in both the pen stores I frequent around here :D. Vergé is another word for laid paper, BTW.

It is also available in other colours, like pastel blue, pastel green, ivory white, and white.

Wim, the amount of time this must have cost you!

A most excellent review and I'm already looking forward to receiving my bottles... :)

Thank you, Joska! I don't think about the time I have spent on this anymore . I only think about the pleasure it has brought me, and hopefully many people here! :D

Hi KCat,

well, now I'm just going to be impatient!
:D I thought you always were anyway  ;)

Looks very promising. I've steered away from strong browns but I'm very optimistic about this stuff.
It really is great stuff, and a great replacement for al the chocolatey stuff, brownies, and whatever else people go through. This stuff has no calories; you only look at it :D.
Thank you for the great review.
Thank you, for your very kind words!
Can't wait to get a chance to do my own investinkatin'.
:D

Warm regards, Wim ;)

Ok Wim, now you've done it.  YOUR review caused me to order an extra bottle of FPN Ink, so I'll just send you the invoice for the additional $20. :P

:P

Yeah, blame me...

Wim, are you going to handwrite your thesis, with at least 50 different colors?  B)

Yes! The draft, that is...:D

Actually, started that... :D And by the end of this week, I have my books back in my study, first new book case is standing now... :D

If I hadn't already bought a bottle, this review would have convinced me to. Great job wimg!

The next ink review I do, I'm using yours as a template. The only way I'd know more about the ink at this point would be to try it myself. I can't believe you accomplished all this with one dinky vial!

The only problem is now I want a Stipula to go with it. Will I never be free of this compulsive need for more pens, ink, and paper!

Wow! this ink is better than I had anticipated! I love brown inks and this one is going to be a daily user. I also have a lovely little brown pen to put this cherished ink in.

Thank you Wim for the excellent review! I have already purchased my bottle, but like others before have stated, your review would be the "clencher" of the deal. :D

Well, I am very honoured! Looking forward to your next ink review!

Well, I was afraid I would run out of ink before I finished, but fortunately, I made it, and that was after trying the ink out first, in a few pens, for real life usage :D.

The only problem is now I want a Stipula to go with it.
:D Yes, what better pen to go with it  Either an Etruria Amber, or Novecento Rex, or an Etruria 991...:D
Will I never be free of this compulsive need for more pens, ink, and paper!
Nope. :D The minute you joined here, that was it - now you're lost forever

Wamr regards, Wim ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
