My pen colleagues,

The FPN Calendar is online! Just below the FPN logo in the upper left corner of this screen are three tabs, one of which is [ Calendar ]. Click on it!

We invite you to make your events entries in the Community Calendar. There is some help for the calendar function if you click on the Help link under your name in the upper right corner.

- I encourage you to write a title in the following format: event's country, province or state (if helpful), city, brief title.

- Use the function that sets the time the event begins.

- In the description, please include contact names and method of contact (phone, email, etc.) so that attendees can get more information.

- Make use of links to event web pages, photos, or maps.

- You should still post your event topic in Clubs, Meeting and Events, and include a link to your topic within the calendar entry, so that members can post their questions regarding your event, and members can see your replies.

Remember, the earlier your event is posted, the better for members to plan ahead.

Fred

Seems the link doesn't work anymore????

Fixed now, You can actually get to the calendar through the Calendar tab as well, next to Members, before Upload. The tabs are the items just underneath the header of each page, just above the Search pane.

Who has permission to add an event?

I wanted to list March 2, Colorado Pen Posse meeting, but I keep getting an error message?

I'd also like to know if an event can be deleted, b/c I wanted to add info about the Atlanta show, but it has already been added. However, that info in incomplete. So I was hoping it could be deleted and I could add the correct info without having duplicate entries.

Harlequin,

As a moderator you should be able to edit it, I would think ;).

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have just added the possibility to RSVP a calendar event. I knew there was a possibility to do so with the new version, but only discovered a few minutes ago where this functionality was hidden and how to activate it :D.

Effectively this means that if someone would want to attend a meeting, say a pen posse meeting, he or she could add an RSVP to the actual calendar event, provided the creator of such an event would tick the box for RSVPs when setting it up.

If you'd like, I could also investigate the possibility to automatically start a topic, here somewhere I would think, when a new calendar event is created. What do you all think?

Thank you in advance!

Warm regards, Wim

It seems as if most, if not all, meetings are in USA. Would it be possible to be notified when there is a meeting in the country of my profile?

Hi everyone, I'd like to add Tainan Pen Show 2019 (Oct. 19-20) to the calendar, but looks like I don't have the permission to do so......Should I post more articles to get the permission?

The Tainan Pen Show 2018 was held last week. We had around 1,600 visitors in one day, and a lot of people suggested us to announce the date for next year as soon as possible, and make it a 2-day event. It'd be great if we can share these information via FPN.

Thanks in advance.

Do we have any etiquette about adding events that aren't our own events? For my own benefit, I'd like to see all the upcoming Fountain Pen Shows added to the calendar, and have no problem doing the work of adding them, but don't want to step on toes, if that makes sense.

Scriptus in Toronto is coming up in October 29, 2023 and the call for local volunteers is circulating.  scriptusvol@gmail.com if interested in working on the scriptus t-shirt or some other part of the one day event. Priscilla is organizing the moving parts with Philip.

Hopeful someone can add the event for Oct 29 with the other Pen Shows.

Rob Maguire (Plse call me "M or Mags" like my friends do...)I use a Tablet, Apple Pencil and a fountain pen. Targas, Sailor, MB, Visconti, Aurora, vintage Parkers, all wonderful.

Is this calendar still a thing?  I don't see anything on the top left of my screen under the FPN log, and when I click on the two calendar links on the first post, it just takes me to the homepage.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
