Hope you can get it adjusted Jsolares. I always mentally add $100-150 to the price of a used pen, especially one from ebay. Good luck.

Wise words! I've just paid 200 euros to get corks replaced in 4 of my recently acquired MB pens.

A piece?

No, for the whole lot. Four corks changed, a KF nib that didn't write adjusted, and cap bands tightened. Beautiful job.

Good price idazle. That is roughly the average of what I pay, and am happy to pay, until I sort myself out and stop pretending that I am too busy at work, and start doing things for myself. :)

Lovely MB 256 farmdogfan. My collection stops short of this series but.......I must admit, the pictures of your pen, and comments in relation to its size, are food for thought.

I just love the way the ski-slope feeds look, lovely pen farmdogfan :)

Well today i wen't to the boutique to get some blue ink, ended up with the new permanent blue, and the old iron gall blue-black :)

Borrowed their loupe and couldn't find anything wrong with the nib on the 149 so left it with them to get an estimate on getting it adjusted.

This 1$ pad is quite decent, too bad the blue-black it still sucks on the MB notebook :( it is better than the bordeaux or emerald inks though it still feathers.

I just got the Marlene Dietrich Commemoration Edition (the limited 1901 edition) with an M nib. I am a sucker for the silver MB pens and found it at a good price. I did not find it too feminine with the exception of the nib and section which are quite are smaller than I prefer. The pen is also really heavy wich will take me some time to adjust to when writing. I can always use it as a paper weight on my desk. :D

I know a few others on here have the pen, but I like that it is not too common. It is also my second MB withthe MOP star. Woot woot.

I also picked up a bottle of the MB diamond ink. I liked the blue color. I wish it was a regular production ink since it is now harder to find without paying an arm and a leg.

Googled it for pictures, lovely pen, i'm guessing yours is the all silver since that does seem to have the MOP star :)

Hi jsolares. Yes, it is the 1901 piece version that is all siver. Silver MBs (and metal overlay in general) seem to be my recent focus for new pens.

I put a picture in the "show us what you are using" thread. I think there is a review of the pen on this site too with good pictures.

Besides the potential weight issue), I am a little bummed there does not seem to be a converter option for it, but I am going to keep looking.

Congrats on your two recent 149s. I am on the hunt for a good one too, unless I break down and but the 90th anniversary pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
