What's Your Most Recent Mb Purchase?

I got my first Montblanc today in the mail. It's a Starwalker in Midnight Black.

I bought it off an online classified new and unused for just $200AUD (including postage). Admittedly there's a small engraving on cap but it's barely noticeable and nothing personal. Apparently it was an unwanted corporate gift.

Here's hoping I can find a few more unwanted gifts like that in the future!

Congrats. I have a starwalker FP and it is a nice smooth writer. I hope you get many years of use from it.

Hello from Hong Kong. I'm new to the forum. Most recent purchase hmmm it was made quite some time ago. Can't remember how long ago - it's a Meisterstück 149 - 75th Anniversary. I love the rose gold ring and mother-of-pearl snow cap. But for everyday writing I use a Pelikan M730 silver M-nib and an English Parker 45 ball pen passed down to me by my late father.

What a lovely pen. Also, :W2FPN:

Thank you. I am glad to have seen this forum when browsing the web. In Hong Kong there isn't much info on pens I can get in local forums. :D

A Montblanc 320 EF nib. It's cheap, it's used, it's light, but it write so smoothly... It's a first time I like an extra-fine so much. Wet, constant with a nice flexibility.

I think that with similar pens like 221, 220, 22 and 32, this a very good entry level Montblanc pen

I have just bought an interesting 342 D, with DEF nib

Beautiful pen. I believe those 34X with the coloured cap top are rather scarce, aren't they? What's a DEF nib by the way? I guess the capital D enclosed in a star stand by DEF.

Cheers

"D" nibs are a very rare edition, they were made in the middle 50's for use with carbon paper. Are not wet at all and obviously no flex, but smooth.

Funny, but when I purchase a Montblanc, I soon forget what I bought and focus on the next one. I know…it's an issue I have and I'm working on it. Looking in my collection I see that I recently purchased a 146 and I'm asking myself, "what took me so long?" Like all my Montblancs, I never know which MB I'll be getting next. When something comes up and is priced to my liking (a great, great pen and an even better price) I jump on it. And….Lord forgive for my sins, but I just found three Montegrappa Argento fountain pens at a price I couldn't pass. Different colors and different nibs.

My first and second pen other than the Japanese pens I had (notice the HAD!!) until now.

I used to hate the idea of having a pen which costs so much money and that people buy to show off.

Oh god, was I wrong.

It sings. It knows the alphabet in two languages and has enough speed to give my 21 K 1911 Realo enough dust to make sure I get rid of it within a few days I got the MB.

I also got the Boheme which I adore, the retractor is great, but mine is broken and I have to find a way to get the back end of the pen out of the darn cap. Its actually stuck in there!!

It writes like heaven.

Good bye Asian pens! Good bye Sailor. I will keep your ink but never use another!

Arrived today in the post, and won (a very reasonable winning bid!) at a 'local' auction house who also shipped at a very reasonable cost.

Came with the original box, CD, and booklet. Pen needs a little clean and flush, otherwise seems to be absolutely fine.

Is this a 'keep' or a 'sell on' ?? No idea, but I'll probably decide after I've used it a few times.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
