What Color Are Your Fingers Today?

GouletPens

Recommended Posts

Black. Skrip Jet Black. My refill day is usually Tuesday. Line up 7 or 8 pens, mostly Sheaffer, get out the bottle of Jet Black, and dip, squeeze, turn and push, wipe, and get on with the next week.

Black. Gets really nice when I fill a cartridge with syringe, and it spills over. Been doing all the above for far too long to change now.

Yep, Black.

Private Reserve Arabian Rose, the ink which hates me! Every pen I load with it refuses to write. Every time I so much as touch the bottle, ink goes everywhere. It hates me, I tell you.

J. Herbin Vert Empire. For some reason, it kept getting into the cap of my Platinum Plaisir, so as a result it was getting all over the barrel when I posted the cap last night and this morning, and thereby all over me (and possibly on the shirt I was wearing last night when I clipped the pen to the neckline before I realized there was a problem).

Also Noodler's Kung Te Cheng, from refilling one of the Konrads; not *entirely* sure how it ended up on the nail of my right ring finger....

Mostly Noodler's Marine which is one of my favorite greens. I also inked up a couple of other pens (I like to have 3 at the handy all the time.) so I have a bit of Noodler's Manhattan Black. This is one BLACK black! I believe it is one of their exclusive inks made for The Fountain Pen Hospital.

I had a little spill, so there is Noodler's Violet on my fingers. In my pens is Waterman Blue, and Private Reserve Avacado.

Washed-out Rouge Hematite, I like the ink but didn't get any if the gold particles, oh well, It's an amazing red besides that.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
